    Re: Holiday Parties 2007

    Lily,

Kepping in mind this is coming from someone who hasn't dressed up in years...here's what comes to mind when I think 30something holiday garb, non-trashy:

This one is comparatively cheap too.

    I try.

This one from http://www.smartbargains.com is only $65 and has a vintagy feel to it.

This one is from Bloomies, it's $244 but they're currently running a promo for 25% off.

        Also from Bloomies, it's $235 + 25%

I need something to wear to this party next Thursday, and I would rather shop online and have it delivered. Help me!!!!

I'm hourglassy and prefer to show a little cleavage over something with a high neck, and just above the knee would be ideal. Not too much arm action (no spaghetti straps) but a thicker tank-ish strap would be permissable if the rest of the dress is really cute.

            Help!

I just got this for me:

Anyway, less than $20 isn't bad. It's cute too, I think. Check eBay.

I think you'd have to go bare legged. Sheer black is out of the question w/garnet shoes .... even I know that. I'm having images of white tights a la Betty Boop - but they're not good images.

Oh no! I remember that Flynn was all dressed up, lookin' gorgeous and ended up not going to her party. I'm sorry that this evening may turn out the same for you. I hope he makes it home in time for it to make sense to make an appearance! I'm the hopeful one.

how late is too late to get to the party? 8? 9? Will DH need any time between getting home and going, or can he just honk the horn? Work back from whatever your cutoff is. If it's 9pm and you can go as soon as he gets home, he has to call and physically be IN THE CAR STARTING IT UP by 8pm. In that case, I'd shower at 7:30 or so, just in case (with the phone within reach). If he needs time to get ready after he gets home, don't do anything till he calls, and if your cutoff for getting there is 9, consider it a no-go if he doesn't call (in the car starting it up) before 7:30. Adjust to earlier for earlier cutoffs.

Here's what I would do, get all decked out no matter what and if he comes home late, he can take you out to a fancy dinner.

Yes, Stella's right. No matter which way it turns out, have a nice dinner when your dh gets home.
I love going decked out in party stuff to McDonald's.

Alison - . I thought for a minute there that all of the female medspouses rolled differently. In my situation, if DW didn't make it to the party a fancy dinner would not be on the agenda. It would be more like -- "What's for dinner? I'm starved and exhausted? Where can we get food fast (since you don't have dinner ready "?

You don't need luck. I'm sure you're looking great and ready to work the crowd.

For those reading at home, I'm qualified to speak on the issue with authority because I've seen Lily in the flesh (though I couldn't figure out a way to introduce myself that would'nt suggest to those present that we weren't having a torrid, illicit affair.
