Could you point me to what the BE beginner kit is? I'm a bit confused as to which exact one it is, what it includes, and how much it costs. It looks like sephora has its own BE kit for $64. I didn't see the same at the BE store itself.

I've tried mineral make-up several times with no luck. GET A PROFESSIONAL to help you figure out your shade before you order or a buy anything.

I use a tinted moisturizer from Aveda, and like it. I made the switch about a month ago from mineral make-up. I still use a mineral blush, but the foundation was drying out my skin.

Vishenka, I will have to look at Bobbie Brown. Could I get that at Macy's? We have Sears, JC Penney's, Dillards and Macy's.

I have to plug the BE stuff too. And like MPS said, don't knock warmth until you've tried it. LOVE that stuff. It looks pretty intimidating but you only use a tiny bit. I have blue eyes so I like to wear it on my lids as the coppery color makes the blue pop.

Bases: I like to use Monistat Chafing Gel. Super cheap, and works exactly like the spendy stuff. (essentially the same ingredients) Helps the makeup glide on (mineral or other) and stay put all day as well as smooth over your pores.

I love BE....switched to it about 4 years ago and haven't looked back. I should get some instruction on using the warmth.....never have quite figured it out. I lucked out in finding the right color because my sister got me the starter kit and she has the same complexion as me. I used the "bisque" as a concealer, under my eyes (dark circles at times) and on zits to take away the redness. Then I use the foundation, but what makes the difference for me is the mineral veil, which is a finer powder than the other stuff and for me really makes everything look "finished". What I mostly love is how quickly it goes on.

I am fascinated by all of you who love "warmth", I think I am going to have to give it a second chance and play around with it. Especially now that I am surrounding by snow (thanks CO!) and snow does nothing helpful to my already painfully pale complexion.

I'll let you know how it goes!

I'm trying to remember how long my first kit lasted me - I ran out of the Mineral Veil first, probably after about 4-6 months, the foundation lasted me about a 9 months to a year (can't remember exactly). However, I use it pretty sparingly. Oh, and the containers as part of the kit are smaller than the containers if you were to purchase them individually, so when you re-stock it will last you quite a bit longer. Really depends on usage though.

ETA: While playing on the site, I noticed that no matter what link I clicked on after the first page there was an offer for the "Get Started Kit" in an ad at the top of the page. (I didn't extensively test this, but it might help)

Thanks, Crystal. Wow, $64. I guess if it lasts me for months on end like it does for you, then it's worth it. I don't use a huge amount of foundation. The Clinique stuff I use starts to smell funny after awhile, so I end up throwing some out with each compact that I buy.

I know nothing about make up and am very intimidated by the sephora type places (actually never been inside one) and I practically run through the beauty sections in department stores!!

But I feel like I am getting to an age where I really should make a little effort.

Anyone with dry skin tried this stuff? I just can't imagine putting a powder on my face?!? It seems like it would settle in the creases and catch on the dry patches. Maybe I'll pluck up the courage to try it at sephora, especially if it is returnable if I end up reacting to it after a few tries.

It's funny you mention powder settling in folds and creases. I'm worried that it'll latch onto my moustache. I need to get so many things waxed, it isn't even funny... I've completely neglected myself!

Don't give up. I went to a little boutique where I was the only one there. i hate doing the make-up thing at sephora/department store because people are always walking by and gawking. Anyway, after the girl showed me how to use it, I tried it and it was awful. I washed my face and started over again. One of the trick is getting enough on your brush (that is evenly coated) and then making sure that excess powder is tapped off. This way, you have control of where the color will go when you follow the application steps....at least this was how the girl explained it to me. I use a disposable dessert plate instead of the lid because I make a mess on the counter when tapping oin the lid.

ALSO, BEs Rare Minerals Blemish therapy is awesome. It actually works!!

If you suspect you might, I'd really urge you to look into the bismuth thing a bit more. I've heard it can take a long time for your skin to recover if you're one of the unlucky ones who gets redness and flaking and such from it.

If you moisturize before putting on the powder with a fine brush, and then spritz your face or pat it with damp hands, you get a really nice finish (from the mineral makeup I use anyway). I'm still too lazy to use it most of the time though.
