  • Carseat Sale - Have to brag!

So I had a 20% off coupon for Babies R Us... I was going to get my breast pump, but the only one they had was opened and obviously returned. Yuck. So I went to look at my carseat, and there was a sale on it - If I bought the carseat and stroller, I'd get an extra base for free! So I used my coupon, and got the free base, and saved $60!

Probably should have waited to see if I got them at a shower, but I don't think most of my guests would buy big stuff like that... I'm so excited - starting to feel more prepared!

Love the pattern. I still have one more 20% coupon to use by the end of the month. Trying to decide what to spend it on since my mom bought out our entire registry.

          Good job Mom!!!

I really like those colors and pattern. It's so easy for mom to boys… The patterns and colors are pretty and natural. For the girls things are ultra girly. Pink, Pink, Pink. I decided to save my husband the embarrassment of pushing a pink stroller and bought a gray/lime green colored travel system. He thanks me when he sees other dads pushing the pink strollers carrying a big pink diaper bag.

Cute pattern - if you're worried someone might buy it for you just make sure to take it off of your registry. My mom and one sister went in and bought me my carseat, so its possible

Thanks! I marked it as "purchased" on my registry, so hopefully no one will buy another one. Keeping the receipts, just in case.

                Yay!

When dh and I were preparing dd's room before she was born, we always told each other, "all that's missing is the baby!"

They're just swimming in their car seat when they come home from the hospital. It's really adorable. They're SO tiny!

Don't rush to buy stuff. You'll always have more BRU coupons -- we got a zillion of them with registry items that were sent to us and it seems that we get more every time we go to BRU. We made multiple trips to BRU and got everything we needed, w/ coupons, before BabyK was born. Then it all went on sale Black Friday (shortly before he was born) and we could have saved even more. Now that he's here, everyone keeps asking what we need and sending us junk that we don't need or already have. If we had been more patient, then people could have gotten us what we needed later or we could have saved a lot more on the things we bought. (Sidebar, we did get a super deal on the breast pump -- saved $90 using the 20% coupon + a Medela coupon + sale. That was totally worth it)

The silver lining: We've been asking people to make contributions to BabyK's college fund or donations to charity instead of sending gifts. Always preferred to lots of stuff.

That pattern looks great-- It can go with a boy or a girl, no prob...

I don't know about you, but for big ticket items, my family wouldn't buy anything. My grandma bought me a car seat once b/c I had twins and only had 1 car seat-- she bought a matching one. Other than that, family and friends have bought clothes mostly, or smaller gifts. So go ahead and use your 20% coupons on big ticket items if you have them! Makes sense to me!

I never was able to ask people to donate to a fund or something like that- I think my family wants the fun of giving cute little baby clothes...

Haha - I agree. We got hundreds of onesies. :\ So big items - that seems to be left to us. *shrug* Tis life!

And LM - I was admiring that pattern this last weekend - telling DH, this would work for a girl too!! He agreed, it is such a cute pattern that it goes either way!! Nice pick!

That's what I'm expecting from mine. I doubt most of them will even look at my registry, so I'm hoping they go for cute clothes, toys, or gift cards. I've done a lot of research on the specific "gear" I want.

Oooh, good deal! The extra base is a great idea - wish we could have had that. I don't think they had the bases sold separately back when our kids were babies.
