One of my friends has them, and wears no other shoes. Ever. She said that once you break them in, they are the most amazing, comfortable things ever. She's a pretty hardcore runner, and wears them when she works out too. She's obsessed. She has them in silver. They make her look like she has robot feet.I'm just trying to make it out alive!

Russ has them. He has very high arches and has trouble finding shoes that work for him. You do need to go slowly with them. They kinda change your stride to a toe-first kinda step. As a result, you get a MONDO calf workout. Expect to be very sore after your first few runs.Mom of 3, Veterinarian

My friend P (in Boston) has a pair, and she swears by them. Much more supportive than the typical flip flops in the summer
She has also gone hiking in them and is pleased with her purchase. DH is considering a pair, but right now we need to buy him a new pair of Keens soon... $$Wife to Family Medicine attending, Mom to DS1 and DS2

DH has them and LOVES them. Like others have said make sure you start off slow. Rather than a toe first stride I would describe it as putting your foot down more evenly rather than putting SO much weight on your heel. Shoes absorb a lot of the pressure/force in the heel so there is a natural tendancy to put all of your weight in your heel when running, the five finger shoes as well as running barefoot force you to put your foot down more evenly so that there isn't a huge amount of force to your heel.
DH got his about a year ago, and I still tease him that we paid $100 for shoes that make him feel like he's running barefoot. I know in reality they protect your foot more than actually running barefoot, but it just seems silly, like paying for an invisible outfit or something.Loving wife of neurosurgeon
