There's a store by my nearest Macy's that sells them. They make me giggle.

they look...interesting. I love it when someone makes me "google." You'll have to give us feedback. I honestly thought they may be something to aid in using a smart phone.

One of my friends has them, and wears no other shoes. Ever. She said that once you break them in, they are the most amazing, comfortable things ever. She's a pretty hardcore runner, and wears them when she works out too. She's obsessed. She has them in silver. They make her look like she has robot feet.

A friend's husband started out with them and is now really big into barefoot running. Outside. Ten mile stretches. Sometimes up in the mountains.

I personally can't even stand wearing toe socks. Let us know how you like them.

They look interesting, but not something I would ever consider working out in. My seriously stupid feet wouldn't survive 10 minutes.

Insanely high arches + Morton's neuromae = inability to wear flimsy-looking shoes.

I've heard from multiple people that you should break them in very slowly to avoid injury.

Russ has them. He has very high arches and has trouble finding shoes that work for him. You do need to go slowly with them. They kinda change your stride to a toe-first kinda step. As a result, you get a MONDO calf workout. Expect to be very sore after your first few runs.

If being ugly didn't remove them from my consideration, the toe-first stride would.

Ditto. Plus the fashion factor scares me.

My friend P (in Boston) has a pair, and she swears by them. Much more supportive than the typical flip flops in the summer
She has also gone hiking in them and is pleased with her purchase. DH is considering a pair, but right now we need to buy him a new pair of Keens soon... $$

This. I can't even stand flip flops for having the thingy between my toes. They look like horrid torture devices to me, but then, isn't anything designed for working out?

Everyone that we know who has them, loves them. One of the poker guys wears them all the time- running, walking, etc. One of my neighbors wore them to a party and said that she was never wearing another kind of shoe ever again.

DH has them and LOVES them. Like others have said make sure you start off slow. Rather than a toe first stride I would describe it as putting your foot down more evenly rather than putting SO much weight on your heel. Shoes absorb a lot of the pressure/force in the heel so there is a natural tendancy to put all of your weight in your heel when running, the five finger shoes as well as running barefoot force you to put your foot down more evenly so that there isn't a huge amount of force to your heel.

DH got his about a year ago, and I still tease him that we paid $100 for shoes that make him feel like he's running barefoot. I know in reality they protect your foot more than actually running barefoot, but it just seems silly, like paying for an invisible outfit or something.
