  • Shoe help

I am on the lookout for a pair of everyday/casual winter shoes that I can wear with everything from jeans to cargos. I have a pair of brown leather and suede shoes from BOC that love, but I need something to wear with black or dk grey pants. Here are the requirements:

    • slip-on if possible - I am juggling too many things when I walk out the door,
    • heel that is 1" or lower,
    • A decent amount of support/cushioning - I have craptastic knees and a pair of ballet flats make me ache for days
    • I'd like to stay under the $100 mark if possible
    • They need to look okay with socks on. Winter in WI necessitates socks, sometimes wool ones.

BOC has nothing that I like, it is either clogs (not great snow shoes) or grandma-ish.

I know it will make our resident fashionistas cringe, but I do like the look of keens, but just haven't found a pair that looks great in black...

As much as I know I should avoid commenting on anything fashion-related... I love my plain black riding boots in the winter. I wear them with pretty much anything, and the heel is low enough that I don't have to worry as much when I'm walking on ice. Here are some like them:

Have you considered Doc Martens? They make tons of different styles and are pretty heavy duty.

I have weird feet and can't wear heels over 1", either. The sole on my Docs are about an inch, but the heavy soles work well for snow/ice and those puppies are really well-made. They last FOREVER.

Check out the J-41 Brand of shoes at their website, choose a style and then do a larger search to see if anyone has them on sale (this doesn't happen too often).

They are super comfy and I wear them with my smart wool socks all the time. The heel might be slightly higher than you want, but they are chunky and easy to walk in.

They have lots of slip on styles.

It sounds like you're looking for something a little more formal than this, but I wear something very similar to these all the time: http://www.skechers.com/style/21363/...int-blank/bkcc Possibly my most favorite shoes ever. (They can handle being wet, but I'll admit they are not great on ice.)

I have these in black. http://www.clarksusa.com/eng/product/acacia/74660 Got them to replace the lined merrils I wore to death last winter. They're SUPER comfortable.
