  • men's briefcase / laptop bag

I tried to do this on my own, but I need help.

DH has a Tumi rolling laptop bag. It is, of course, in mint condition (b/c it's Tumi), but he says he's tired of dragging it behind him and wants a bag to carry on his shoulder. I bought him a super-fabulous bag when he finished training, but he beat the hell out of it, and it's not in good enough shape anymore.

The obvious choice would be another Tumi, but frankly, I don't want to spend $500+ on a bag. I'd really love to get him an attractie leather bag. It needs to have space for a laptop AND for stuff, b/c he travels weekly and needs to carry stuff w/him.

Suggestions? I'd like to cap it at between $300 to $400. He's just too hard on stuff to justify spending any more than that (frankly even that makes me cringe, but it WILL be his Christmas present).

I have a bag from Levinger that I really like for my iPad. I thought their prices were good and the quality is as well. I actually bought it for DH who deemed it "girls" so I m offering no further advice.

Deebs - I've already looked at Levenger -- their true briefcase is about $500. Michele - no, Timbuktu is too casual. DH is in and out of hospitals daily, he's got to look "executive". (roll eyes).

Have you looked at TJMaxx or Marshall's? I haven't bag shopped there in a while, but sometimes you can find great brands at great prices.

That has been one of my thoughts. I was going to try to get there today, but never made it. Does anyone know if Nordstrom Rack carries such things? I'm really not up for fighting those crowds unless it might bear fruit.

Dh's bag is heavy as hell, but he gets complimented on it all the time. It isn't what I would consider "professional" though. I think it's ridiculous, personally, but he is super hard on it, lugs it everywhere, everyday, and it looks new.

                Again, casual and pricey.

                But people rave over them.

Nordstrom Rack had some nice brand bags when I was there last time but I did not notice if they had men's bags.

                        Thanks guys!

I looked at Coach tonight. Sadly it's just not big enough. My man is one intervention away from an episode of hoarders. Plus, he carries not only his laptop, but an iPad, assorted cables/peripherals, as well as his files, GPS .... it's a lot. It turns out my searches were much more fruitful once I included the word "executive" in them, rather than just "laptop briefcase".

Anyway - I'm leaning towards this http://www.ebags.com/product/clairec...uctid=10022299 . This one is just slightly smaller http://www.ebags.com/product/clairec...39382181800614, and a full pound lighter, so I might go that way. It still has plenty of room, and I don't really need to enable him. Ebags is running 20% off sitewide (excluding some brands, like TUMI), plus 6% back. I can get a TUMI expandable for $395 http://www.ebags.com/product/tumi/la...98047612979098 -- and it's no lighter and not leather. The Claire Chase retails over $669 on their website. Because my dh is hard on things, I know it won't last forever, but if he's shown he gets tired of bags (just like I do), is it really worth the $$ just for the TUMI name?

My DH has a fossil he loves, highly recommended, prices vary though. Fossil does have good sales and outlets to check out.

Fossil recommendation here too-if you look online, try finding a coupon code before checkout, sometimes they have really good ones!

I got DH one from Kenneth Cole for his birthday. He loves it and the leather looks really great new or even now that it's getting a little "broken in" looking.

                              http://www.kennethcole.com/family/in...CMessenger+Bag

I spent about $180 though they have more expensive ones. I wouldn't (couldn't) spend $600 on a bag because I know DH might spill something in it but this was a nice in-between choice of something nice but not irreplaceable.
