As I'm sitting in my office sweating my ass off, I can assure you that you're on to something. Don't forget to have a section dedicated to the changing needs during sex, too. Lotions, lubricants and whatever else you can think of! (having no kid at home has uh, made that issue a little more evident than previously)

And I'm not sure that there's anything embarrassing about it. It's a fact of life and the more it becomes commonplace to have these conversations, the more women will be getting the help they need. I think you should call it Flash!!

Although if you were in Michigan, you could call it VAGINA.

Jenn, it's so great you say that! DH thought of "Flash" last night, and I was coming to run it by you guys. I love the name!

Just toured an old Victorian house that would be great for the store (for those of you familiar with P-Town, a lot of boutiques are housed in old Victorians; think New Renaissance bookstore).

I am so glad you guys like my store idea. I would also cater to women going into surgery, and all the changes of being a woman in her 30's up to 90's!

I am so serious about doing this; been thinking all day about how to get products. I am very excited!

                  What about support group-type counseling/sessions?

I love your store idea and wish my Mom had something like that when she went through early menopause in Austin. I was a teenager when she was going through it and since we were the only two girls in the house she'd drag me all over town to look into and try things for it like soy drinks, energetic chiropractics. Her hot flash episodes always seemed so painful. That whole experience was awful really.

Do you know someone who can conduct a feasibility study for your potential business? I would be afraid to sink a ton a money into something that sounds great on paper but won't turn a profit. Maybe you can start group sessions first while the study is being conducted and see where that leads before opening a store front, especially in this economy.

Not trying to be a party pooper, just practical.

I think you have to have a business plan before anyone will give you a loan to get started anyway. I like the idea of group sessions! Great way to involve people early and get feedback about what they'd like to see in the store.

You're not a party-pooper at all! I am working on the business plan and hope to open the store within 90 days. The classes I took in grad school to write business plans is paying off; very helpful information.

Absolutely, those will be included as well. Can't have a counselor running a women's health and wellness store without offering support groups! I also plan on having an ND run weekly seminars on HRT. The ND at my clinic is interested in doing this.

So many possibilities! DH thinks I should start an online store first, but that takes away from face to face talking and support with other women in similar situations. Not to mention the ability to try on heat-wicking clothes in the store.
