I set up an appointment at Ulta. It cost $30.
I don't think it is a compliment when someone says, "I like your make up". I want to look good without seeing the makeup first. Does that make sense?

I share Sheherezade's coloring concerns. I am very pale. In the past, people have tried to use porcelein colored foundation which makes me look deathly. It is a tough balance to punch up my color without looking garish. I am definitely looking for more everyday wear.

One product I LOVE is Estee Lauder's spotlights. It helps mature skin have a nice glow. Even if you are only wearing foundation, it makes a world of difference.

I've had a lot of luck with Bobbi Brown lately. It seems a bit more forgiving than MAC (I love MAC though) in that it's less Matte and seems more natural on my skin. I also love their natural lip glosses that doesn't need a lip pencil to see.

On a side note the MAC ladies are always nice to me but they seem so severe with their make up. It's beautiful but so not MY life. I feel like telling them, "I could wear that color on my lips but my four year old will think I'm bleeding."

I do go to MAC for all my occasion make up. The doctor balls the past two years have been really fun in part because I really did formal make up and dress.

Have fun with this and LISTEN to what they say. I was blind to a few of my "strengths" when getting make up put on a few months ago. We tend to see ourselves so differently than others do. I just wanted to feel more put together and the lady did a few things with my eyes and lips I've never done and I was shocked at the result. Even my husband noticed which is saying quite a lot.

Flynn, I avoided MAC for years because of the way the salespeople do their own makeup! But when I finally went in and told them what I wanted (basic, not spending more than 5-10 minutes on it in the morning), they were great about actually doing that. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a dramatic makeup person (at least not on myself).
