I like the blue better. It looks good on you.

I wore the blue - it was fun, no pictures (I think!)

Oh and Flynn the society element in our neighborhood/area is SCARY - we pay for our address and its pretty annoying. I wish I had realized how much before we bought here. 5-7 years and if we're still here we're moving

DH has been out for 8 months and we have been invited to...

          none.

And I thought Atlanta was pretentious! Apparently not. Or, maybe there are tons of black tie galas and we just are not just beautiful enough to be on anyone's list!

There are a ton of black tie gala events here, and I am very thankful that we don't go to them. Both DH and I don't have any desire to be in the limelight or dress for others. I can count on one hand the events we've been to in the past 7 years.

Our fanciest events here typically involve people wearing Wranglers and cowboy boots...

Us too. Nothing fancy for us. Maybe it's a function of academic medicine?

So the 3 that we have been to:

1 - Benefits the ENT's (cochlear implants) that DH works closely with since he is the skull base guy, the hospital paid for the table. BORING!

2 - Hospitals bi-annual Christmas party, this year it benefited DH's department so we had no choice. It was fine but the music was so loud you couldn't even have a conversation with the person two people over from you so we left shortly after dinner. Since its only every two years it won't be the end of the world if we have to go but I also don't think its big enough to have all the docs so hopefully we won't have to go every time.

3 - FUN! No pretentiousness at all which I thought was interesting since this one has lots of senators, politicians, police chiefs etc types on their guest list. It was fun to get dressed up and bid on some things.

So 2 we had to go to, one we went to by choice and we'll go to more as we get invited, if we get invited. Who doesn't like to get dressed up? Plus DH bought a tux and if I do say so myself looks 007 in it! Its amazing how well a tux really fits when its not rented!

I am totally strong arming DH into going to a Venetian Masquerade at the end of May. (it benefits the NICU). I hope to be at my goal weight by then, and call me superficial, but I want to get dressed up and show off!

I'm shocked that a gala to help fund cochlear implants was boring. Absolutely shocked.
