LSW what brands at TJMaxx? I usually end up with Maxx Studio or Willi Smith...

I find: Lucky, Paige, Ralph Lauren, Paper Denim, C&C, and Coach at our local one.

I also heart TJ Maxx and Marshalls - I've had good luck recently finding Current/Elliot and Joe's jeans, Tahari tops and shoes, and some other random better brands. It really depends on the store and whether it's in a more populous/upscale area. Smaller town TJ Maxx usually sucks. I also almost exclusively buy my workout clothes there since there are pretty much always some Adidas or New Balance leggings or tops for like $16.

I don't really like department stores that much, but I would definitely go for Nordstrom (Ross Park) over Macy's (Robinson) as an anchor store. Macy's varies widely - their flagship stores like downtown Minneapolis or Chicago (I miss you, Marshall Fields!) are great, but the smaller stores have an awful selection. I'm sure the Robinson store is OK, I haven't been there yet, but Nordstrom is still far superior in terms of size and brand selection. Plus Ross Park has some higher-end brands - Burberry, LV, BCBG, Kate Spade, Michael Kors - in stand-alone stores, so even if you're not shopping for that it's kind of fun to browse around. Whereas Robinson is just your average suburban mall store selection. Between Ross Park and the Saks off 5th and other stuff at the Tanger Outlets, there are hours and hours of shopping fun.

This thread is making me totally jealous! I told DH to "stop spending so much money!" this month so I have to be good too.

I wanna come! Even trying to answer this question makes me realize how long it's been since I've shopped seriously for myself. Have fun! I'm a big believer in trying it on. You just never know which brand, store, etc. until you see it on your body. I start at a low price point and move up as necessary.

Hit up the TJMaxx over by me, and I guarantee you will be a happy person.
