  • Hunter Wellies - Worth the $$?

I have never owned a pair of rain boots, but in the past few years I can definitely see where they could be useful, especially when taking the dog out during rainy fall/winter days. Now that I have a 10 minute walk to and from my parking deck during the work day, the idea of something that protects my feet from rain and cold during the cooler months is tempting.

But - are these worth the price? I know, there are cheaper options. But as with many designer things, so many of the reviews suggest that the cost is worth it because they have been disappointed by other brands. Are these good for rain and snow? We don't get much snow here, but when we do both DH and I are always a little taken aback when we realize how unprepared we are, footwear wise. On days when I have to walk to my building when there is still remnants of snow on the ground - I hate the frigid cold on my feet!

If they are fairly multipurpose they may be worth the price. Plus, I have a $60 Nordstrom gift card that I haven't yet used, so that also makes me more included to shell out the $$ if they are worth it.

    Your opinions?

Do not own BUT was at Nordstrom Rack yesterday and they had tons of them discounted. So... I'd say make sure you get them on sale!!

I love mine. I have the fleece inserts so they are nice and toasty in the winter.

CP , coming from a midwesterner, that is encouraging!

Angie - thanks for the tip. No Rack around here but I'm headed home this weekend and will pass right by one so I'll have to stop in!

I have a long walk from the parking lot to work as well. They get worn pretty much every day from late October to late March. Definitely worth the price!

Yes!! That's awesome to hear. I legitimately have thought to myself MANY times - I wish I had 'weather' appropriate boots, as my leather or suede boots are getting ruined walking through rain or snow-slush or the salted walkways after a snow.

Meh....side rant - why must Tory Burch flats be soooo expensive?? $140-$150 for durable rain boots? Totally justifiable. $225 for ballet flats? Very much wish I could justify.

I've been wanting wellies for a long time. In particular, these: http://www.houghtoncountry.co.uk/hun...via-welly-p326. I just cannot get by without a little heel.

I don't think they even sell them in the US. Wonder how much it would cost to have them shipped from the UK.

Actually - I think it would fairly reasonable. I say that because I am lusting after this bag: http://www.modalu.com/shop/sale/pippa-58.html and just saw that it is on sale and thought of sending it over to my parents as a "hey, look at this...early xmas present, wink wink, nudge nudge" and saw that it's 15GBP to ship internationally. The wellies may be a bit more but likely not too bad!

If you're short, you'll fit the child sizes so FYI, a little way to cheat and they're way cheaper...

I am on the short side (5'3"), but wear a pretty typical shoe size - 7.5. Also, I prefer my boots to have a slightly wider calf so I can wear them over jeans and leggings - I always try for a 15" circ. calf - even better if it's 15.5 - 16.25". I like the look of a slightly wider boot instead of one that looks like it's strangling the calves. I don't know if I could get away with a child's size...I wish, though...

Ooooh, I wonder if I could do this? I'm 5'2" (barely) but wear a size 7 shoe. I have skinny calves and always have difficulty finding boots that don't make me look like I'm standing in a bucket. They wouldn't have the wedges in kids' sizes though.
