  • Men's fashion question

It isn't cold enough for DH's leather jacket or coat, yet it is chilly and I'm sure he probably ended up taking his leather jacket or nothing this morning. Since a hoodie wouldn't go with a shirt and tie or polo, what is a good chilly weather cover for him? I'm clueless.

DH has a car coat made out of heavy canvas...don't remember where he got that one. For rainy/cool days, he also has a soft shell car coat. I think it is a Kuhl. Both were pricey but can be worn with work clothes as well as jeans. Therefore, he actually gets more wear out of them than his wool coat.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

The wool coat doesn't come out often. He has a heavy coat that can be separated to make a less heavy jacket, but it looks off with slacks and a tie. I bought that coat because he was freezing when taking the train to the hospital in the 3 weeks of real winter here. He likely wore the less heavy jacket or leather this morning.

DH has that sweater in charcoal (and another in navy from Brooks Brothers) -- he wears them with jeans as well as to work with slacks, a dress shirt and a tie. Super versatile and can be dresses up and down.

I think my husband usually wears his soft shell, either a North Face one or his medical school one.

When it's too cold for shirtsleeves but too warm for a jacket, I usually go with a sports coat or a blazer. Example attached.

This. Seriously. DH picked out a backpack (with space for his iPad, computer, etc) for his birthday. That replaced the bag he got at residency orientation in 2007. The one with holes in it and a frayed strap.

I'll suggest he use one of his sport coats next time. Thanks!

This kind of jacket is a great option for fall (and probably most of winter for your area):

DH has a khaki canvas field jacket, but it's fairly casual and looks best with jeans (would not look great with khakis, haha). He also has a couple soft sport shells (North Face and Adidas) in grey and black that work with khakis, a navy waterproof rain shell, and one very light wool short jacket in charcoal grey. This is, of course, not counting the many heavier-weight coats and jackets. You know you're from Minnesota when...

Seriously! My DH has an Arc'teryx jacket that he wears pretty much always. That's about as fancy as he gets.

Yes, completely agree, but that's for slightly colder weather.

Oh, and thanks, ladies. It's hard not to be vain and/or fashion conscious when you teach marketing to hundreds of 18-22-year-olds every day.
