Men's fashion question

Sorry, I'm the kind of guy who always finds things that fit in-store. I know nothing about brands that fit unconventionally shaped gentlemen.

Um, yeah -- wish I could help, but DH's weightlifting and small waist pretty much guarantee that he HAS to wear pleated slacks to fit both now. They just don't make 33"-34" waist pants with enough thigh room for him in flat-front slacks.

FWIW, Jos. A. Bank usually has the best options for DH. Dockers makes a style of slacks that has hidden elastic in the waist, which is great if you need some flexibility there.

His sizes are just dumb. I've gotten to the point where I order shit online and let him try them on at home and return whatever doesn't work. Jos. A. Bank has been the most consistent winner.

Dude is 6'3" and 230 lbs. Tailoring alone on a suit runs AT LEAST $100.

McPants - If you have any idea on brands that fit weirdly shaped dudes, I'm all ears. Here are his sizes:

Your guy is similarly proportioned to mine but at least he's tall enough to buy at the Big & Tall, right? I agree regarding Jos.A.Banks though I sometimes have to have shirts tapered to make them fit the waist. The elastic pants work great with a 41" waist because pants are usually either 40" (too small) or 42" (too big). I can get by with the 40" if they have the elastic in the waist. I also had some luck many years back with an place I found on line that custom made clothes for the NFL/NBA. Those guys have unusual proportions too. They weren't terribly expensive either. I'll have to research to see if I can find it again. Still, I'm clueless as to WHAT to buy even if I can find clothes that fit him.

Big and Tall doesn't work for DH. If the B&T shirts fit in the shoulders and neck, they're a tent around his waist. Dude has almost a 16" difference between shoulders and waist. He's kind of like a giant, walking "X" in human form.

DH can't do Big & Tall either even though you'd think it would be perfect for him!

It's impossible! He's tall and broad but thin in the lower body (skinny legs) with a muscular butt.

He's done well with Brooks Brothers/JAB slim fit shirts that we then get tailored. He has almost all dress shirts tailored down and certainly all suits.

I love the wool coat MrsK. DH got something similar for interviews from Nordstrom. It was pricey but he'll have it forever.

As for casual jackets, what about a lightweight wool coat that is short? Like the length of a bomber jacket but in a light gray wool.

Yeah, we have that problem too. I usually get the shirts tailored or try to find something that is labeled "athletic fit". I'll buy 5 shirts or so when they are on sale and spend more on the tailoring than on the actual shirts. It's actually easier to find clothes that fit him since he hasn't had time to get to the gym as often. It was more difficult when he was in better shape. I remember once being at Men's Warehouse and watching them fit a man whose waist measurement was larger than his total height measurement into a suit. The guy looked like a beachball but they couldn't fit DrK. Made DrK feel like a freak.

I gave him the jacket and the blue striped shirt this morning. He absolutely loves the shirt. He says he likes the jacket but I may have to force him to wear it. It's always hard to persuade him to bundle up even when it's freezing. I'm saving the rest for Hannukah.

That's actually like what I was talking about! DH has one that's waist length but I like that one even better.
