  • Shoe help

I have two weddings and a graduation coming up. The first wedding is a full Catholic mass shindig with a traditional reception. I have the dress and necklace I want to wear, but I need help with shoes.

My issue is that I have stupid feet. With weirdly high arches (seriously, they don't even touch the insoles) and Morton's neuromæ, I need something with higher-than-normal arch support and without a huge difference between the height of the heel and the height of the footbed. Any difference over about 2" - 3" will have me hobbling by the first dance. But I want heels. I'm kind of thinking that something with a platform would work, but I can't find anything that meets all of these criteria and doesn't look like either some weird bastardization of a Birkenstock and an orthopedic shoe or something straight out of a Hans Christian Anderson tale about leaky dikes.

Help, Obi-Wan Fashionistas. You're my only help.

Here's my dress for the first wedding:

    Necklace:

I'm not opposed to crazy colors or patterns since the dress is a solid. I'm also up for buying quality, but would like to keep it under $200, if possible. I'm not completely opposed to spending more if I can get all my criteria met, though.

The graduation will include the same peeps, so I have a different dress. If I can use the same shoes, that would rock entirely. The second wedding is FAR less formal and I'd be surprised if someone did start chasing a piglet at some point. I'm not putting any effort into that one. I could roll out of bed 10 minutes before the ceremony and still be overdressed when I arrived.

Maybe Nine West heels? I'm not sure if they will be comfortable enough, but they make a nice low heel and are pretty comfy. I can't do even normal height heels either

Are you looking for pumps or strappy or just anything that's comfy and matches?

Totally open to anything, so long as I'm not limping within a few minutes.

Have you tried Aerosoles? I'm trying to think comfort because I can't stand when my feet hurt. I got a pair of pumps from Nine West that are fairly comfy but not in large doses: http://www.ninewest.com/on/demandwar...-Show?q=irenna
The heel having more surface area than a stiletto seems to make them more tolerable.

For some reason, I always conflate Naturalizer and Aerosoles. Naturalizer doesn't work for me and because of that I always just dismiss the Aerosoles, too. I'll have to see if I can find any I like. Good call.

Naturalizer's heels end up at precisely the height that aggravates my feet the most. Add in that the toe box is more narrow than typical and it's almost like their designers went out and tried to make something that would hit in exactly all the wrong places.

Take a look at Fitzwell also...my friend has wide feet and she loves their heels. I have a pair of boots from them and they're so comfortable!

Cole haan might be good too. I can wear them - and I have somewhat similar issues.

Also - very pricey, but seem to work reasonably well for me - LK Bennett. It's the cheaper version of jimmy choo, but they fit my feet way better. I can't wear them all night usually, but I can usually last about 6hrs.

Not fashion help but a totally wacky bit of input. The most comfortable and wearable heels I've ever owned are a pair of heels made for ballroom dancing. I bought them for my daughter and snagged them after her event. Plain black, but you can run in them.

Yes to this. I had to wear ballroom heels for 10-12 hours at a time. The two brands I'd recommend are Gamba and Supadance. I loved my Gambas. You can dye ballroom shoes or get the pretty plain or decked out in rhinestones. Lol. Let me find a pair of Gamba's.

Okay, so apparently Gamba is now owned by Repetto and they don't seem to have a solid ballroom line.

Supadance styles are fairly one-note, but if we're going for comfort:

Stephanie dance shoes seem to have a following too: these are a bit funky, cute (to me):

Unfortunately, there aren't a ton of ballroom shoes available on Zappos, but there are these:

Coach makes pretty comfy shoes. I just got a pair of wedges that are super comfy. Wore them around Target and for hours with no prob.

Great timing! The sandals I ordered from HauteLook just arrived. They're VERY comfortable Calvin Klein wedge sandals. The heel is 3" and the platform is 2", so there's only a small difference in height between the heel and forefoot. That significantly lessens the stress on my neuromæ. The arch support is decent and in almost the perfect spot.

I'll have to see if I can find a link to them online. I really love these shoes.
