For me, I'm done, done, done with AT and Loft. It was a hard breakup because I was die hard. I tried to revive it over the course of a few years. Clothes didn't last for the price. We had a beautiful 20 years together. I miss us in the good ol days when I would stop in and buy cute stuff off the rack because I knew my size and fit. <sigh>
Now, I spend 95% of my clothing allowance at Black House White Market, Target, and Talbots. Talbots is very new for me and I had to get over the fact that my Grandma shopped there. What I have found is that I love Talbots pants. I need pants for work that are flattering and have pockets for cell phones and photo ID/keys. Talbots and BHWM are spendy so I'm still trying to maximize their system. BHWM has an outlet nearby and I wait for their coupons and then call ahead and have them pull stuff of ra 10% discount (even if you buy nothing that they pulled ahead of time, you get 10%). I just joined the Talbot fan club or whatever they call it and got 10% off their sale stuff. Even then it is at the upper end of my comfort zone for spending money. I do like that their clothes wash nice and last at least a few seasons. Few retailers can say that. My SIL is very high up in a well known large American apparel retailer and she openly acknowledges that they make disposable clothes. Ridic.
I've had some luck with JC Penneys of all places for DD who is out of girl sizes but not ready for juniors styling.
My boys rock the American grunge look. Oldest occasionally wears Hollister and youngest wears Gymboree occasionally. Mostly its t-shirts and jeans.
Hubby wears dockers and RL and scrubs.
Where are you spending your hard earned cash, beside Lilly Pulitzer at Target? LOL.
