I would choke at that too and would never spend that on myself. However, on DH is different. Dude will wear that suit for at least 10+ years!! He still wears the suit his grandmother bought him for med school interviews. It was custom and who knows what exorbitant price...but I think it has been paid many times over since it is now 21 years old...and still looks good.

If you go the expensive suit route, but an extra pair of slacks. Those will wear out faster.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Suits? It's like a foreign language to me! I'm just shimmying into my overalls to hit the tractor for an hour before breakfast!!!

I secretly love men's clothing. DH is a very well dressed man. My former life was in luxury retail merchandising, and he happens to be "sample sized." It also really works well that I understand men's clothing so I was able to snag some awesome deals for him. My favorite score to date was the black suit I bought him for our wedding. It was two months before the wedding and I was feeling pinched for money. The suit I wanted to buy him was $2000. Even with my employee discount I was looking at $1200. I went to the sample / mis-mates / cancelled special orders sale. I found the EXACT suit I wanted to buy him for $150.

Men's clothing is an investment. I'm not a crazy person, I know $2000+ on a suit is not affordable while you are in training. When you have the money, I recommend working with a professional sales person at a store such as Saks/Neimnan/Barneys/Nordstrom/etc. The store pays your sales person's salary, so you don't have to deal with paying extra for a personal shopper. I started my career as an assistant to a men's suit salesman. So yes, I am a little biased, but I think you will have a much better experience even if you have a budget or want things on sale. If you need a referral, let me know!
Mine got one from the Black Lapel, ever heard of it? It fits better than anything be could've gotten at a store (he's a 28/28 pant size) and IMO is better made. That one was $700. He also had a custom made for him by a local tailor, which I think was only about $300 more. It is waayy sharp

Would you post or PM me a referral link? DH has tried Trunk Club and Men's Style Lab, but they're both more expensive than is practical for the amount of time he'd wear them. (He just wears scrubs at work, so they're mainly for date nights, but we live in a rural area.) It's so much fun getting clothes to try in the mail, though, so if we could find something closer to Stitch Fix prices, it would be great.

Price is still high though. Men's clothing is just more expensive.
