one word: mancrates.com

One year I got DH a pipe carving kit, the next I got him a home brewing set (through craftabrew.com but they have one on man crates), this year he's getting a tortilla making kit. He'll use it once then I'll be left to do the dirty work but we love tacos and store bought tortillas are gross.

Other things he's getting:

ingredients for said beer kit
set of glasses / growler that names his fake brewery
a clothing box filled with jerky
Blundstones
suitcase
archery lessons
SmartWool socks

He also bought himself a new pair of Allen Edmonds and cologne because I refuse to purchase specifically requested items. We tend to go all out at Christmas but most of the things we're either too busy or cheap to buy during the year.

This year I got DH a NorthFace rain jacket, moleskin notebook, and a set of printed dad + kid + kid dress socks from Pair of Thieves. He likes fun dress socks, and the boys like matching their dad. I would have gotten him a new Fitbit Charge 2, but my parents are already getting him that.
I think he'd say the best gifts he's gotten from me were a small helicopter, compression socks, and a snowboarding jacket. He would love it if I bought him more compression socks each year, but the guy really doesn't need any more.

The tortilla making kit is genius. Got DH a cheese making kit once. He used it... twice?

Things I have done:

When kids were little, dressed them up like doctors and/or patients and took pictures to hang in his office. Now that they are older, just regular family photos to put in his office.
He is a strong Christian and I found a cool print of Jesus standing beside a surgeon in the operating room. He LOVED that one and his patients make tons of comments.
I have made photo books of our mission trips for the patients to look at.
I got him a record player that he could convert all of his records to digital. ( HUGE hit. The nurses get a kick out of the scratches/skips on his operating playlist.)
I got him stuff to make a gun target range.
He takes great photos and I've blown them up to make posters and collages for office and home.
Hammock ( loved it)
Tickets to George Strait concert, Phillips Craig and Dean, etc.

This year one thing I bought was the MELT massage course. I am so excited. he LOVES massages and I'm hoping this way I can get them as well. Anyway, I'm burning them to a DVD to give to him and I'll learn some ahead of time. http://couplesmassagecourses.com/

DH always wants cycling stuff, so that is pretty easy. He got an expensive cycling kit for his birthday in October, so I'm only getting him a few other little things: an OU tie, some chocolates, and a world series champs tshirt (lifelong Cubs fan)

What about this? I LOVE mine--I actually bought it because a normal running watch was too much of a pain for me. ladymoreta has one too. It's remarkably ready to go out of the box and easy to use. It tracks steps and heart rate, but always tracks specific activities like running, cycling, swimming, weights, etc.

I thought a good pair of Nike shoes cause he's always on the go as an intern and he doesn't want me to spend that much on a pair that's going to get dirty st the hospital. I also wanted to grab him a northdsfe jacket he can wear under his white coat cause he says he's freezing but says they are too much. I pretty much told him to let me know what he wants or I'll pick one of the two. Budget is majorly tight and our daughter is turning 3 on the 26

Glad I'm not the only one struggling with this! DH says that clothes don't count as presents... but he doesn't shop for himself or ask for things so I often forget to buy him clothes without the reminder of a holiday.

I asked some ladies this very question last night. DH plays video games as his stress reliever. Someone suggested an oculus rift. I looked it up and it's $599! OMG that's not in our budget!

My back up gift was framing his board certificate, but I'm letting my mom do that. Only about a week left to figure this out!

Starbucks released a new tumbler that is much like our old ones that are falling apart (and discontinued a few years ago). I bought one for him.

The google cardboard knockoff ($13) I got DH is supposed to be a basic way to do something similar to the oculus rift and try out VR. I think there are other alternatives around $100 if you wanted something nicer.

His program just gave him a yeti mug. So that took mine off the list. I'm thinking I'll just end up buying him some clothes and a raspberry pi

Does he use steam to get/store his games? Maybe a steam gift card, so he can get whatever game/add-on-content he wants?

Time. Buy him a membership to the gun range. Or a fishing trip. Or camping gear for a getaway. Or ski trip. Or whatever he enjoys doing. Spend money on memories and not just things.
