    I generally don't answer the door unless it's really obvious that we're home and just ignoring the person.

    DH had a roommate in med school who came from a family of Irish travellers. He was a weird guy.

      That is a great idea. I will definitely do this. I always feel like I have to acknowledge them anyway, so shaking my head counts!

        I got invited to something similar when I was in college but it was for knives.
