I generally don't answer the door unless it's really obvious that we're home and just ignoring the person.

DH had a roommate in med school who came from a family of Irish travellers. He was a weird guy.

I didn't care if they saw me in the house. If I don't want to answer and they see me, I just shrug and shake my head no.

That is a great idea. I will definitely do this. I always feel like I have to acknowledge them anyway, so shaking my head counts!

When I was in college I got a call about an "internship." When I went to the meeting it was actually selling educational books from door to door. I guess this company tries to get college kids to do this on the breaks. All they were talking about was how much money you could make by selling these books door to door. So maybe that's what the guy was with.

I got invited to something similar when I was in college but it was for knives.
