    Thanks.

    I like to e-talk, so 50 shouldn't be a problem for me!

I think that this site is SUPER imortant for more than one reason...obviously things like friendship and the practical side of things (like basic questions) , but soo much more than that.
DH is the most attentive sweet man I have ever met and still by the end of the 5 years he was dragged out, empty and although he was trying to still "be there" for me...quite frankly he had NOTHING much left TO give....reading stories (may be perceived as negative) about the reality and the fact that it DOES get better truly got me through some pretty tough lonely moments. Hearing that others have been there and still survived and come out stronger for it made all the difference. The program director's wife spoke with me at the beginning of 5th year and said that the year would be horrible, but to remember that we (as the partners) were the "silent heroes" and to remember that life as we were being forced to live it was NOT normal, but wouldn't last forever! I seriously thought about that 100 times and now realize it was ALL true. Without her talk and this site I would have been in a much more lonely world
Oh Yah, DH thinks that if it makes me happy, he's happy!

One practical thing right now that's keeping me from falling off the ledge of perpetual self pity is the thread going on about labor day plans. My plans, suck, and DH is taking call on Saturday AND Monday. Which is why my plans suck.

BUT reading the posts of people who actually have plans that sound fun and enjoyable give me hope! :|

At least I like to say that.

Anyway, there are some "light at the end of the tunnel" stories but mostly when things totally suck, empathy.

My DH couldn't possibly offer me all the support- he won't ever get it. We come from different worlds and different perspectives. He has to rescue, I have to vent. I love him and everything, and I respect him for what he does, but if I try to ask him to support me he'll just say I'm complaining. He will say Suck it up... I know that is not helpful, so coming to this site with a on a vent emoticon is probably a more healthy alternative for our relationship.

That is awesome - I missed this post until Annie quoted it. If my dh were in a different field, he'd probably be hearing that too. As it is, everyone assumes that SueC and I met b/c both of our husbands were at KU. Lest they think my dh is friends with that asshat, I'm quick to share that we met via "internet dating".

This sight has been a godsend to me...mainly my sanity. I haven't been around here all that long, but when DF does something that outrages me, now I have somewhere to come to ask advice BEFORE I rip him a new one. It tempers me, and helps me try to understand what I can do, or how I can view things, to help in the future. We are just starting out, only still in the 2nd rotation (but the worst one by far as warned by every single resident I have talked to), and so everything on this board is helpful. DF sees how helpful this has been to me, and he knows that without it, his life would be much less enjoyable. The "stories" on this board are people's life experiences, and those are invaluable, no matter whether they are positive or negative. I'm glad I found you all, and am thanking you ahead of time for saving my sanity!

Is your husband going to some thing in California at the end of October? My husband was supposed to go (on the program's dime, too! Damn!) but can't, and when he was lamenting that to me one of the first things he said was, "It's a blood thing, too--I probably could have met the transfusion med guy from medspouse." A near miss.

Is that the AABB conference? That thing always has the worst timing.

He's not planning to go as far as I know. But I'm always the last to know.

Sweet that your husband thought of him. We may be going to Chicago in October (depending on my friend's experience with the mega-bus this weekend). If we do I'll let you know.

I'd be happy to add to the slut list.

I want to be on the slut list, too! But only if I can get a phoenetically catchy nickname, like "Easy Abby" or "Always Available Abigail" or "Give-It-to-'Em 'Gail."

Guess who was a "troubled teen"?
