I'll take anything at this point - it started last evening and I couldn't fall asleep until 3am. I threw up around then, and am feeling a bit better. What do you take or do when you feel one coming on?

Re: Migraine help
:therethere:
I don't get as severe migraines and haven't for a few years (knocking on wood). It seems like some caffeine (sp?) helps so I drink a coke or cup of coffee when I notice the start of one and then take Tylenol. Coke also seems to help with a queasy tummy.
I hope you feel better soon.
A friend of mine used to get horrible migraines that made her miss work. I don't know all the medications she tried. She has been seeing an accupuncturist and she has made a huge difference.

Re: Migraine help
Thanks! During the day, coffee really helps, but I was sort of panicky, because I wanted to sleep, and didn't want to take in too much caffeine.
My diss advisor recommended Head-On to me, and it helps when I'm in the thick of one.
I'm pretty new to migraines, and just recently have figured out when one is coming on.
I think I get them when there are severe weather changes. We're back up to 80 degrees today.married to an anesthesia attending

Re: Migraine help
That is my in a pinch replacement for the Tylenol Migraine or whatever. I think I ran out or couldn't find it and since it is tylenol and caffeine, I made my own. At least I think that is all that is in it. I used to have something prescription that didn't seem a whole lot better.

Re: Migraine help
Tylenol Migraine ROCKS!!! I'm getting ready to go see someone about this exact issue. I've had them for a few years now, but they seem to be getting worse. My face starts dragging and I vomit almost every time.
I'm going to tackle this from several fronts: headache, hormonal, and vision. In fact, I'm thinking about getting Lasik to be done with the contacts.
Best of luck!

Re: Migraine help
I have to take prescription Maxalt. It works though...although it has a side-effect of a "regular" head-ache.
To ward them off, I have to keep myself hydrated...lots of water.
I was just seen recently for migraines, as mine have changed. The doc told me that migraines are worse for women than men. (my mother and grandmother deal with them as well).

Re: Migraine help
Excedrin Migraine works for me if I catch it in time...like in the first 30 minutes or so. If I don't, then I'm stuck with the migraine for 2-3 days. I think the caffeine in it is what does the trick.
I'm only able to take regular Tylenol right now and it's like taking water.

Re: Migraine help
When I'm not pregnant or nursing, I take Axert. Expensive prescription, but so worth it since there are no weird side effects (drowsiness, or anything). when pregnant or nursing (still nursing my 7 month old) I take Darvocet or Vicodin. Both are safe for nursing or pregnant per the baby's ped and my OBGYN.Veronica

Re: Migraine help
lame answer- a caffeinated drink and tylenol
drugs used-imitrex nasal spray- it leaves a residual headache though.
my main causes are stress, lack of sleep, dehydration and weather changes. I have to keep up on the water intake or else...
Excedrin migraine hasn't touched my migraines, but I am interested in this Tylenol migraine. I have been getting them regularly for 15 years and the only real thing that helps are to sleep it off and a prescription med.
Sorry you have them. They suck.Needs

Re: Migraine help
I get headaches a LOT. I don't know if you guys remember all that...
I get tension headaches and migraines and often times I can't tell which one it is. I've actually had a headache since MONDAY and I have no idea what to do. Advil just isn't working anymore and my mix of 1 Excedrin Migraine with 1 Excedrin Tension Headache is hit or miss.
Guess I should try this Tylenol migraine you speak of?? Do you think it would work on a tension headache too?

Re: Migraine help
Erica, yoo hoo...
Excedrin migraine is the same as regular excedrin...tylenol, aspirin, and caffeine. I think it works the best of anything without a prescription. Take it early, as soon as you feel the migraine coming on.Heidi, PA-S1 - wife to an orthopaedic surgeon, mom to Ryan, 17, and Alexia, 11.
