  • Seeking dawkter, etc advice

You would have to pry my DH's dansko's from his cold dead hands. They are the ONLY thing he wears at the hospital. He likes the open back ones so that he can slide his feet around during long surgeries. He has two pair which I haven't seen for years b/c he says when he wears them out he'll just thrown them in the biohazard bag that is how gross his get.

Yep. Dansko clogs all the way. Some men might find them kind of feminine - but they're so commonplace at the hospital that I don't think it's an issue there.

Are the Dansko shoes wide? DH has wide feet- he needs some new scrub shoes, and wants "all leather" .

We always buy DH's shoes at Nordstrom. The reason being - his shoes wear fast. He has had pairs from brands we trust, that have worn out within a month. If they wear that fast, Nordstrom will take them back - they stand behind the quality of their products.

DH just got a pair of Dansko clogs. He has also worn birkenstock clog-like shoes and borns. The nordstroms out here doesn't carry men's danskos otherwise we would have gotten them there. Love love their return policy. DH goes through tennis shoes like crazy and they always exchange them for a new pair.

One of DH's friends got Clarks fourth year and totally sold DH on them. So DH has a casual one for scrubs and one nice pair of their Boston line for dress clothes. The store he got them lets you try them for 60 days, so he was sold on trying, and kept them.

I can't find the exact ones, but ones close to this style.

I've got another Dansko-wearer here. This is the style that DH is currently sporting:

                  http://www.onlineshoes.com/reviews/pwr/ ... ional.html

He really likes them, they're comfortable yet look fairly professional. They were a bit pricey ($100+), but so many people here are hospital employees that a local store offers an employee discount. Maybe there's something like that near you?

If you're looking for a dressier shoe (for non-OR days) my husband also swears by Allen Edmunds. I'm pretty sure those are available at Nordstroms too. But they're pricey - you definitely wouldn't wear them in the OR or in a situation where you would get bodily fluids on them, DH only wears them in clinic with his suit.

Hubby has Sketchers (they make mens dress shoes too) and Born. Both are comfy. The Born look like brown bowling shoes. Oh, he also has some Nunn Bush or something like that. He really likes the Sketchers best. When he has time for shoe shopping again he wants to get brown ones like his black ones.

Anyone have a clog recommendation for wide feet? Danskos just do not fit my hubbies wide, flat foot.

DH just started wearing Chung Shis. You have to get them at a specialty shop, and they look like gym shoes, but the bottom of the shoe is curved. They look weird when they're not on, but DH has had no back pain after even twelve hour shifts since he switched. Also, they're really pricey, but DH has had his now for probably four months, and they're still not showing wear - a small miracle for him.

DH has about 20 pairs of Nike Shox tennies that he cycles through. He stands all day while operating, and his feet get all sweaty and stinky. He swears by the Shox. DH can't wear clogs because they slip off his feet while he is running up and down the stairs at the hospital.
