We're going to see it tonight. Anyone else? I think I've started becoming excited about the movies since the books are done.

Like the nerd I am, I dragged DH to a midnight showing today. I loved it, but hey, I'm a nerd
DH liked it too, but doesn't read the books.
Two thumbs up!! Go see it, but be mindful that the movies are getting darker, and may cause your children nightmares due to some scenes.Wife to Family Medicine attending, Mom to DS1 and DS2

DF is on vacay, so we went to an afternoon showing. We both liked it a lot - apparently it sets up nicely for the last two movies (this is according to DF, as I haven't read the books yet). The theater was pretty full and there was a line to get into our theater for the 7 PM showing. DF said that it made over $20M in midnight showings, which is a new record. Crazy!
I didn't think that it was overly dark, I think I laughed in this one more than I have in any of the others. But then again, I haven't read the books, so I wasn't as in tune with what the overall tone of the movie was supposed to be. Hope everyone enjoys it when they get to see it!!Event coordinator, wife and therapist to a peds attending

I can't wait to see this! I will have to wait until I return home from traveling though, so I am going to avoid this board until after I see it! (maybe...)
The books are great, they get more and more complex and unfortunately the movies are staying the same length - so more and more gets cut out.
Is it true that HP7 is going to be split into 2 movies or am I imagining that?

We saw this last night. The timing is starting to mess with me - I'd mostly forgotten what happened in the book! I liked the movie though. Lots of lighthearted parts, which I wasn't expecting.Julia - legislative process lover and general government nerd, married to a PICU & Medical Ethics attending, raising a toddler son and expecting a baby daughter Oct '16.

Plus there really are two different stories going on simultaneously, and you can't just cut one out. (in book 7)
I saw it last night. It was good. It was dark, but yes, it was also funnier. The kids got better lines. I didn't like some of the changes they made for the movie. I'm going to start another thread to discuss it with SPOILER in the subject so folks who haven't seen it won't look.Last edited by Shakti; 07-17-2009, 10:45 PM.
