We're going to see it tonight. Anyone else? I think I've started becoming excited about the movies since the books are done.

Like the nerd I am, I dragged DH to a midnight showing today. I loved it, but hey, I'm a nerd
DH liked it too, but doesn't read the books.

Two thumbs up!! Go see it, but be mindful that the movies are getting darker, and may cause your children nightmares due to some scenes.

Just went and saw it today. Pretty good, but it was dark. There was one point where I jumped out of my seat. But good none the less

I'm going to see it in a couple hours! This was my favorite of the books, up until the sad part, at least. (Hope I didn't say too much!)

Was it the pond scene? My brother and I just went. Very dark but I liked that. There is just no way they can fit everything in a 2.5 hour movie.

DF is on vacay, so we went to an afternoon showing. We both liked it a lot - apparently it sets up nicely for the last two movies (this is according to DF, as I haven't read the books yet). The theater was pretty full and there was a line to get into our theater for the 7 PM showing. DF said that it made over $20M in midnight showings, which is a new record. Crazy!

I didn't think that it was overly dark, I think I laughed in this one more than I have in any of the others. But then again, I haven't read the books, so I wasn't as in tune with what the overall tone of the movie was supposed to be. Hope everyone enjoys it when they get to see it!!

Yep it was the pond scene.. It was really good, the book was better, but I would easily watch the movie again

I can't wait to see this! I will have to wait until I return home from traveling though, so I am going to avoid this board until after I see it! (maybe...)

The books are great, they get more and more complex and unfortunately the movies are staying the same length - so more and more gets cut out.

Is it true that HP7 is going to be split into 2 movies or am I imagining that?

I heard that too, about splitting the last book into two movies. I wonder how they'll break it up.

I really liked the new one. It wasn't my favorite of the books, but it may be my favorite of the movies.

The thing is, it isn't any bigger than books 4-6. Not that I'm bothered by them splitting it up, whatever works.

We saw this last night. The timing is starting to mess with me - I'd mostly forgotten what happened in the book! I liked the movie though. Lots of lighthearted parts, which I wasn't expecting.

I totally agree, I had originally planned to reread the book before the movie, but I've run out of time (actually I think that was my plan before each movie!). Oh well, eventually I'll reread all of them, one following another and then watch the movies, that way it will be nice to put the pieces together in a nice flow.

Who am I kidding? I probably won't do that either. *sigh* haha

Plus there really are two different stories going on simultaneously, and you can't just cut one out. (in book 7)

I saw it last night. It was good. It was dark, but yes, it was also funnier. The kids got better lines. I didn't like some of the changes they made for the movie. I'm going to start another thread to discuss it with SPOILER in the subject so folks who haven't seen it won't look.

Thanks!! (I will stay away from the spoiler forum...) I am going to see it very soon. Then I'll be all over that board.
