I'm definitely not a cool kid - I had to google Rachel Zoe...

I think DH and I are going to the Renaissance Festival just outside of Houston on Nov. 1, so we'll be in Houston for Halloween. Not sure what we'll be doing that night or whether we'll dress up. If we do, we'll wear our Ren Fest costumes. I kind of want to do a Pirate Murder Mystery Dinner Cruise, but it's $70 apiece, so I'm not sure that's a good idea.

I don't know what we're doing for Halloween either, and I don't want to spend money on a costume if we don't end up doing anything. But I'm thinking the Rachel Zoe costume wouldn't take too much that I don't already have, except maybe a faux fur vest that I could get on eBay for under $5. Along with a big pair of "sunnies" and a Venti Starbucks cup, of course!

We will be making a trip down to Louisiana for Halloween weekend It is Garrett's weekend so we are going to take little man trick or treating and then we luckily got the custody eval with the psychologist scheduled for the following monday and tuesday! I am not sure if I am going to dress up, or not... Little man is going to be Wolverine and I am trying to decide if I just want to buy a cute Halloween T at Target. I know we are going to take him pumpkin shopping Halloween day and carve pumpkins together before we take him trick or treating. It will be a fun day!

Ha, well maybe not quite as tall as hers. But I'm 5'2" and my husband is about 6'2" (and I have a complex about being short!), so I have quite a few pairs of super high heels in my closet!

And I'm going to be a doctor for Halloween. Yes, I'm very creative. But this is what happens when you're a grad student on a budget. DF swiped some smaller scrubs for me from the hospital and I will wear one of his short white coats from med school. Hopefully next year we can do some of the creative ideas that I've seen here and on the web.

I just learned that I am going to be husband-less this Halloween because he has an interview on the 30th and will make a long weekend out of it to visit him family.

So, I spoke to my friends from college and am going to join them on what might be my last Halloween in NYC. The costume theme is important women throughout history (Marie Curie, Susan B. Anthony, Betsy Ross, Sandra Day O'Connor, etc.). And b/c it's Halloween in the village, the costumes will be scandalous.

I'm excited for a night out with the girls. As I creep into my late 20s (and possibly move to a more conservative area), I imagine the holiday will have to change for me.

I will be visiting S for Halloween. Last weekend when I was out of town visiting my girlfriend we picked up two costumes for me - one is a pirate And the other is a lady bug. Apparently there are two nights of Halloween parties so I got two outfits. We shall see!!

I haven't dressed up since college and before kids - so this is something different for me!

Nothing against it; I'm just wondering when this happened. I'm also a little disturbed that they have thigh highs and short skirts marketed to my ten year old as "saucy" costumes for tweens. Uh. No.

Haha, you're allowed to judge if you like! I know a lot of people aren't crazy about it. My costume will probably be offensive. Funny, because the girls I'm doing this with and I have taken part in organizing a number of fundraisers and awareness-raisers for women's organizations (namely V-Day and Take Back the Night).

I probably started dressing sexy junior year of high school (Oct 2000). My friend threw *the* Halloween party and wearing revealing clothes was the only way my circle did not act like total goody-two-shoeses. The hostess and her partner in crime were devils one year and Barbies another... I helped them pick out their Barbie costumes - they wore tube tops as skirts.
So, for me, it's always been that way. I honestly didn't pay attention to how older kids dressed before I was in high school.
Mean Girls affirmed it: Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like total sluts and no other girls can say anything about it.

That said, it's absolutely insane that they sexualize children. Market to adults. These are the types of outfits sold in sex shops. If you're not old enough to shop there, they shouldn't make those types of outfits for you. I hope nobody is buying those things, because as long as they are bought, they will be made, sold and marketed.
