Great article! I wonder how many of us grew up in schools where kids were assigned to open windows before taking cover under our desks? I'm happy that we've figured out kids are safer in a windowless hallway. When we lived IL, DD's preschool was built with help from State Farm, and had a tornado room. She really can't understand why that's more necessary in central IL than in Cleveland. Oh well.

Looks to be "fun" in OKC today. Stay safe, Ides.
Just remember: Gary England. News 9.

We don't have cable. Should I watch a certain website? Do we need a weather radio? We are in the city proper so I'm sort of relying on the horns.
O was asking all about Tornados last night. I think he was afraid one would come while we were sleeping and blow us away.Wife to Hand Surgeon just out of training, mom to two lovely kittys and little boy, O, born in Sept 08.

Emergency weather radio or crank radio in case of power loss is great.
3-4 gallons of distilled water, flashlight or lanterns with batteries, a headlamp or two, and power outage activities for O. We had coloring books and board games.
Safest place if you don't have a storm shelter is the center of your house, a room with no windows (think master or hall closet).
If not, bathtub with mattress overhead.

s they heard the tornado coming was that they had forgotten to open any windows. They were pissed when they found out years later that that was totally unnecessary.Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.
