I cant remember which part of Jersey you are in, though.
Sent you a PM with my locale.

I'm in awe that you understand whatever language that was that you just posted. When it comes to understanding weather forecasts, I'm somewhere between needing the graphics and being able to read the NWS forecasts.

      • Yay. DH called and woke me up to tell me to get to the basement with the cat because of a tornado warning for our county. For at least an hour. There is not a place in the basement to be comfortable. First time I've been under tornado warning ever.

          • Poky - it's been cancelled. Moving east not on to shore. More storms coming later but no official warning for now.

            • Poky and Sheherezade - hope you both are in the clear now and were able to get a decent night's sleep.

Philly new station just told people that they should go to lowest level of their home or an interior closet and cover their heads during a tornado WATCH. Morons.

I expect to see rain here in the next hour. There is one nasty cell moving towards us with rainfall rates 5 in+/hour and possible hail. The main line of storms (local weather people used the word derecho AGAIN) will come through the area between 8am and 10am.

Just keep your fingers crossed that I'm safely at work and my dad is safely on campus before this line pushes through.

Yeah, I noticed it got cancelled just a few minutes before it was set to expire. Took me forever to fall asleep, then I was almost immediately woken up by the storm itself finally passing over the house at 2 something. I was NOT a happy camper when I woke up and was already late for work and still tired and sore from trying to get comfy in the basement...and then I got stuck in the mess around Cedar, as that's my normal route to work. Got to work an hour+ late and exhausted. Yay!

                • poky - sorry about the crummy night's sleep.

Safely at work and I believe my dad is safely up here too, haven't heard from him.

Lots of rumbling thunder and the rain has been pretty steady or pouring since about 9am. Winds aren't too bad here but it is pretty dark for 10:30am. The line is pushing through where my family is now, its being reported that gusts are 60 mph+ with that part of it. Just don't want widepsread damage or power outages for them. :/

I have never had DirectTV but had Dish and got rid of it because when it rained or snowed (it does snow in my part of TX), it would go out...not often - maybe a handful of times over the couple of years we had it. One time the disk was a bowl full of snow - no wonder it did not work.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

                      • We've had DISH for years and it cut out a ton during both the spring tornado/storm season and when we had really heavy lake-effect snows. Not so much here in the PNW with either snow or rain, though.
