Of course he's an idiot. But he also will NEVER, EVER assist in anything medical related- his response is always, "how old are you? Oh, I only see children." I'm telling you, I should have found myself one of those military veterinarians- at least the animals could be treated!!

I usually use Dr. rating web sites to find doctors (I have found that the ratings are usually very accurate), yelp.com, as well as the "Best Doctors" issues of city monthly magazines. Have had good results using those methods. The times I've relied on recs from DH's colleagues haven't worked out for the most part.

When we relocated here for DH's residency we asked around and discovered there was one doc recommended by just about EVERYONE and most of the residents (and their families) go to him. Excellent doc, but extremely chatty. We've never gotten out of his office in less than 3 hours.

However, since this is someone we now socialize with frequently, I will most likely find a different doc for my gyn care. I'd rather not have a pap take 3 freakin' hours, nor see my doc a couple days later at a dinner party three sheets to the wind. He becomes even more chatty (I'm not entirely sure how that's possible) after a couple glasses of wine.
