I think we are all gonna head out to the mall. Yes, kids too! I don't really need to buy too much....and I'll probably end up ordering what I need online. But I LOVE to walk around the mall during the holiday season. I love the decorations, the people and the energy. And since we are moving soon, I don't want to add to our crap. . I'm sure as the kids get older I'll be in lines at 3am for must-have toys.

If it makes you guys in residency feel any better, we have been out of training for 8 + years and we still don't spend a ton of money on each other. Granted, we have 5 children, but I try to limit gift giving by buying at sales throughout the year. This year, I told my family that the only gifts that I want have to be home made....so I know that even though a lot of money won't be spent, I will get presents that I will really cherish.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to give great gifts...

Maybe I'm a little dense, but what exactly is sacred about Thanksgiving? As far as I know, it's not a religious holiday. Just curious.
Haha, no I didn't mean it was actually religiously sacred...I just think they cant wait until at least midnight and give their employees some time to be with their families. They keep pushing the opening times up every year.

I'm with SoonerTexan. It is just sad that the employees miss out on the last bit of the holiday before the Christmas rush starts. Or, I should say, continues. They've been pushing Christmas stuff since Halloween. Would it kill them to wait until after Thanksgiving?! Sorry... Rant complete.

I love going out on Black Friday. It's a big tradition for my mom, aunt, sister, and me to go to the Dallas area and get a single hotel room for Friday night. We shop all day Friday and Saturday, and we just hang out and watch TV and visit Friday night. So fun! We also usually go in one car, so we have fun getting creative about how to fit in all our bags. Good times...

I woke up automatically at 4 and can't get back to sleep. :/. I know I've missed any good deals.

Darnit. My inner clock keeps saying "get up and go".

            I think I will.

I got a Sony ereader for my mom for $99. It is 129.99 on Amazon. I also got a Nintendo ds xl bundle with Mario kart for Aidan (Thomas will kill me) for 169. That's $10 off the Amazon price.

It was total freaking pandamonium. I can't decide whether to go home now or keep going!

I just returned home with some really good deals. Target and Macy's were insane, but Walmart was pretty mellow.

My favorite pick of the day was a set of solid, stainless steel knives at Macy's. They're not the super-duper fancy Henckles, but they're loads better than the crappy, falling-apart set that we're currently using. They were originally $79, I ended up getting them on sale for $19.99 after coupons.

I'm prettty much done with the two younger kids and now just have a few things to pick up for our oldest. DH and I don't buy for each other, so I'm damn-near done.

They won't let you shop if you have no money. I'd be coming home about now if they did. I love black Friday! I did show DH the Amazon deal if the day though. Since our good camera broke, we've been borrowing our 12-yr old's Kodak Easyshare. It's pink. DH's response- I get paid Wednesday so buy it. LOL

Hmm. I hadn't heard that. The dsi xl that I bought is for my 7 yr old btw. I was also right. Dh blew a gasket over the cost. Thanx for the heads up. I'm going to look into it.

Afaik, random people can't network in. The kids can download games, and they can chat with each other. We have a dsi, and haven't had a problem.

After working retail for 3 holidays, there is pretty much nothing that is going to get me out there shopping with all the "crazies." On this resident's salary our kids get 4 gifts each-- one from us, one from each sibling, and one from Santa. Which I think is plenty. The most expensive item they get from us are DS games-- and that's like 1 sometimes 2 per kid. Erik and I haven't bought each other gifts for as long as I can remember.

I enjoy going shopping on Black Friday, it is the lines that drive me crazy. Especially when I hear people all around me complaining about how long it is taking. I just ask myself "Did you not see the line before you came i here?"
I went shopping today for our three boys and got some great deals. Especially when we got Lego's half off. My hubby is a NHSC scholar and we just got our ORC last month. WE decided that we would do Christmas and Birthday shopping all on Black Friday (as long as we saw good deals, otherwise there is the Goodwill). So, I am happy to report that I do not have to buy any gifts until next year!

I ordered three books off of barnes and noble's website. We did go to a market today and I found some cool covers for the outlets in my dining room and there was a stained glass artisan there who was selling some glass icicles 4 for six bucks so Nikolai bought some - two for each of his grandmothers.

I wasn't going to buy anything but I ended up getting Lego sets 1/2 off for my cousins boys.

I ordered the rest of my gifts for the online yesterday....a classical guitar plus case for Andrew and a pearl snare drum for Alex plus case. I still have to buy for Amanda and Thomas.... Last night, Thomas did take me out to Kohls and by me some cuddle duds, a workout suit and some awesome boots....and I got a couple of little gifts for the kiddos that cost $5.99 each on sale. I just want to get the shopping finished so that I can enjoy the season.....
