OmGosh! I just watched on the news a graphic that 148 tornados broke out in that area. I hope you're ok.

No ridiculous storms by us, but some crazy hail!!!! Just happy I park underground.

Clear skies and sunny here. Man, our weather is so boring and predictable. Bring on the move, and massive T-storm cells, please!

Oh man! Did we ever see the power of a microcell!

My mom and I were out shopping on Sunday afternoon and decided to head back home. We swung by my sister's and picked up Caleb. On the way home, we stopped a the pharmacy drive through. It started to rain with a little bit of small (>dime sized) hail.

We drove to get gas and there was no change. While we were under the huge canopy, my dad called to say that a tornado has been sighted about 45 miles west of us. We decided to skip getting gas to try and get home. In the time it took us to back up, exit the parking lot and drive less than a block, the moderate rain changed to a torrential downpour (visibility was around 5-10 feet at best) with 2-3" hail. We pulled into the lee of a building. While we huddled there, me in the backseat with Caleb, one of the hailstones cracked the windshield. At that point, my mom, started leaning between the seats. Later, she said that she could see the headline of the car moving when the hail hit the roof! That's when the radio announcer said to get out of vehicles and into a basement or ditch.

About 50 feet from us was a mexican restaurant. We drove over and burst in there asking if they had a basement. THEY were all standing in front of picture windows watching the storm. The power was out and it was harrowing to get down the rickety steps with only my cell phone to light the way. The 3 of us were the only ones in there.

I called my sister and she said that they weren't getting much at all by them (less than 2 miles from our location) and that in checking the radar, it looked like everything had passed already! The whole thing lasted about 5 minutes. On the drive home, we saw a sedan that had all 6 windows shattered. I can't even imagine how scary that would have been to be driving and have the windows break.

Caleb was freaked out but, did remarkably well. He didn't panic (any more than the adults) and followed directions perfectly. I was so proud of him. He is such a worrier that he is fixating on this.

Thankfully insurance is covering everything so, it will all be okay in the end. I inadvertently scared my dad, because I didn't end the call with him as we started to get out of the car, so he could hear us shouting, but we didn't hear him.

That is so scary!

My friend was home with her 5 kids Sunday night. Husband left for business in Italy Sunday. She got the automated weather alert call in time to get all the kids downstairs -- the hail was large enough to break two windows upstairs. Including her oldest daughter's (6th grader). Yikes!
