and while there are lots of Native Texans who disagree w/ me, not Sweet Tea- I think it's too sweet to quench thirst.
Agreed. Though I'm far from a native Texan.

I love having the kids play outside all day so they actually sleep at night.

having bedraggled, barefoot kids with kool aide mustaches makes you the cool mom rather than the neglectful mom
cracking an ice cold beer out on the deck seems suddenly perfectly acceptable even amongst the most uptight of neighbors
spending the entire day boating or lounging by the pool is not a waste of productive time (damn yankee work ethic)
fresh produce appeals to me more than baked goods for a few short months
lots of time with the kids
daily trips for ice cream seems a justifiable budget expense
In my dreams I run with the Kenyans.

Best thing about summer is having the kids home, slowing down and simply enjoying each other.

Least favorite season, but still lots to love.

Barbeques, having two months off of work, family vacations, being tan and wearing flip flops, buying a new bathing suit, watersports, fireworks, Christmas in July (DH and I both have July bdays)...

Not a huge fan of summer either but I do love farmers' markets and not being stuck inside for days because DH took our only SUV to work.
