My sister takes the PSATs this year, so I will be keeping my eye out for options for her (although she will probably be staying on the East coast). I knew that NMs were serious business out there, but I didn't know that they got free lodgings and football tickets out of the deal.

ST, I can ask my parents if you need a place nearby that is totally NOT haunted.
We have two guest bedrooms at this point. LMK.

OU heavily recruits them so they offer a lot of perks. There are other schools that offer a lot too, but I'm not sure about football tix etc

Wildfin, it's fine. My brother and DH are going to party it up with the ghost (they are buddies and will have a great time) and I'm staying with my parents or other brother. Probably better anyway because I won't have to sit in traffic

That's nice of them. I'm glad it worked out for you.

I was going to suggest that you ask for the least haunted room since it has several stories and I'm sure some of the floors are not haunted at all. They'd probably give you a room on the first floor next to the front desk.

I am glad you are happy with it just please be careful that you don't always allow yourself to be the one to make everyone else comfortable. I mean, yes, you are not in the haunted hotel but you are staying with your folks while your husband is staying in a nice hotel room with no responsibility to care for his pregnant wife, plus you are missing out on a night alone in a hotel with your hubby. Not that you need "caring" for but trust me that everyone will eventually be comfortable with you making the concessions and it will become the norm and one day five or ten years from now you'll be saying, "what the hell"? Truly, I've been there done that don't go there.

I've stayed at a haunted B&B before (http://www.stonelioninn.com/index.html). It was fun hearing the stories (the owner told them the next day at breakfast), but I didn't see anything creepy. We might have heard some footsteps during the night, but it was an old house, so we assume it was other guests/weird acoustics. I do sort of believe in paranormal things, but I think that some people are more likely to see them than others, and I'm just not one of those people. (Thank goodness!)

I will keep this in mind, though honestly, even though he is staying in the nice room, I am probably getting the better deal...anybody who has dealt w/ post OU game traffic understands...

My mom feels bad...there was some miscommunication between us that just made things more confusing. My "self-imposed guilt" gets in the way more than her actually demanding anything. Live and learn I guess!

I'm facing my fears because logistics were ridiculous. On the bright side we get free breakfast because they didn't have a room on the floor I requested earlier and the room wasn't ready when we arrived after midnight.

Were on the stinking 9th floor of course.

Haha, yes, I survived. I didn't sleep well, but luckily my lovely DH decided he didn't need to go golfing at 7 am (which would have necessitated me driving him to the course at 6:30 am) after we didn't get to bed until 2.

Good to hear it was ok! After your original post, I looked up the hotel on Google and read some of the stories about it. This one in particular is terrifying:

                              http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...s&sportCat=nfl
(Scroll down to the bottom and see the sidebar titled "Miller Lite Man Up")

I've read Bill Simmons for years and don't think he's making it up or exaggerating at all. I think I would be willing to stay there, but would be totally creeped out if I was given a room on the haunted floor.

Haha, I missed that one in my "research."

The dude at the front desk said one of the assistant coaches paid a staff member to rearrange furniture in Ed Curry's room, resulting in the Knicks story:

                                http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/20...at_The_Carlyle

He told me because I flat out asked what the deal behind the haunting stories was after he told us he only had a room on the 9th floor left and no one had recorded my 3rd floor request. I think that is why we got free breakfast--no one wants to tell the exhausted pregnant lady who likes like hell (hadn't showered in 2 days at that point) that she gets to stay on the haunted floor at 1 am

                                The breakfast was yummy.
