    Luckily my dh has only two requirements for a place to live, 1. That he has a job, and 2. That his family is happy. Makes things soooo much easier

      This is me too. I like about 75-85. Maybe 65-85 if I had to. LA is my perfect climate, but it's so damn expensive.

          It doesn't seem very affordable. Bummer because I was getting really excited checking out the climate section for SD on wikipedia.

            You're right: pretty much anything in CA is costly.
            We moved to a climate that is similar; however, there are greater extremes for both heat and cold. DH is quite happy with it, and he grew up in CA (and missed the hottest days in recorded history, as he had not moved yet).
            If you're willing to deal with high COL, it doesn't get much better than SD: climate, food, local markets, pet and child friendly, activities, etc. The anxiety and stress level is noticeably lower than LA.
