  • Notification globe thing?

What's with the globe at the top of my page with the little red numbers? Never seen it before today - would like to turn it off since all the text is smashed up in there anyway

looks like it's for notifications. It shows you when someone posts something new on a board that your subscibed to and probably some other things, but I don't see anything so far on mine. As far as turning it off, I have no idea.

Okay, I just reread your post, and you obviously know what it is. so I guess I'm of no use here. sorry!

I'd also like to turn it off. I hate seeing the little red number, and I can't figure out how to get it to zero. It seems random. Clicking on it and viewing the notifications doesn't always seem to work. Besides, it's work even if it does clear it.

My thoughts exactly Plus, with having an "new posts" button, it seems a little redundant!

So far the only way I know to get the numbers to drop is to check all new posts.

I don't know if you can turn it off or not.

I have checked all new posts, and it still shows "6." Do you mean check all the notifications?

Clicking "show all notifications" on the pulldown from the globe will clear it.

Well, yes. As long as you only have a few notifications. Otherwise you have to go through pages and pages of notifications. Is this the lite version of this add-on? http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=266972 It says that only admin can decide which user groups can and can't see notifications in the lite version. The full version would allow users to set their own preferences. I really hate to make waves yet again, but does anyone feel like we're getting a benefit from using this add-on? It probably uses a good amount of resources, too.

I'll see if I can turn it off. From what I know, no one from here added it. Just part of the vBulletin updating process, probably. (But maybe I'm wrong?)

Mine is "calm" now: for a while, it was red, angry, and had a large number next to it. Thanks!

Thanks for fixing this Angie. I didn't like the angry red globe staring at me.
