  • Notary Public Brainstorm?

Of course we need items notarized to retitle DH's car in NC. And of course he's working until after 9 tonight and likely all day tomorrow and then I go to Boston. We've applied for the loan for the car (we have to do a lien) like 4 times already and they keep hitting our credit report so I'd prefer not to wait any longer than this weekend.

Any bright ideas on where to get a notary to sign something late afternoon/early evening on a Saturday?

There is probably a notary at the hospital. Can you get the docs to him at work? Have him ask around.

Also I think a lot of UPS stores have notary services.

There is. apparently all the hospital security staff are notaries but the lady I spoke with was unsure that anyone would help us since it's not "hospital business". To which I wanted to respond, MY ASS it's not hospital business if my DH can't leave the hospital to attend to his business. But I refrained.

Ooooh, good point oceanchild. I will call around.

We had people at the hospital notarize stuff for us all. the. time, none ever batted an eye - they know the hours residents put in. Is there a bank in the hospital, we used that several times.

              .
That is BS. When we were buying the house, documents were faxed to DH's department and the coordinator notarized stuff for us. Hellooooo, if you can't leave the hospital where else are you going to get such stuff done? The woman you spoke with just does not want to do it. The problem is the timing on Saturday because my bank and USPS do have notaries but they close early afternoon on Saturdays. I think the UPS/FeDex Mail stores have some too. Maybe they are open later?

Yeah, here too. The residents can use the patient "concierge" service for pretty much anything.

I've used hospital notary's too. It wasn't a problem since I was a hospital employee. There are also traveling notary's in the phone book that will come to where you are at whatever time and notarize something for you. My brother and his wife used that service when they needed something notarized for insurance purposed on a late Saturday evening.

I would just have your DH take it to work and ask one of he security people directly. Good luck!

I have to be there too. Damn title is in both our names (we thought that would make it easier...guess not). I guess I'll go to the hospital tomorrow and see if we can find someone to help.

Wish I saw this sooner, there is a ups store at the end of our neighborhood by the food lion...they have a notary there all the time. $5 an item. I was actually there on Monday getting something notarized for our car titles. I'm a little behind

Good to know for the future! We found a super sketchy office supply place to do it (it was clearly a drug front - no office supply space sells only sell phone covers and cords).

Hahaha those places really are everywhere around here...although I'm unfamiliar with that one. Semi-curious, but not curious enough to seek it out.
