Never put Dr. on anything. As far as airline tickets, I think it depends on the city. Dr. at the Philadelphia airport would guarantee hassles from the infamous TSA.

Why would you want to put Dr. on airline tickets?

But wouldn't you be covered regardless of what it says on your ticket?

Ours read: "Dr. and Mrs. John Q. Smith (Jane)," just like my mother's and my grandmothers' checks always read. I am probably the last person of my generation to write checks using my married title.

Having Dr. on your ticket has nothing to do with Good Sam. Also, just FYI, airlines don't use the flight manifest in case of medical emergency - they use the PA system.

He has Dr. on one of his credit card...when he opened a new card right after graduation, they asked him for his title. He didn't realize it would actually show up on his card! I make fun of him all the time for it.
I'm just trying to make it out alive!

DH has one CC with "DR" on it, but I'm not even sure how that happened. I think the form imported it from the section that asked about profession, maybe? I dunno.

But we NEVER put "Dr." on anything. Ever.

Didn't know that. Just thought it was a good idea/thing to do.

No Dr on anything here, either. We did use it on our wedding invite and our friends made fun of us.

I put in on our checks for the same reason V did...however, we almost never use checks haha.

Right after SO got her MD license, I was so proud of her that I ordered her like 250 address labels that say "Dr. [name] [name]," but she got all embarrassed that I included "Dr." on it. Oops. She doesn't ever use the "Dr." thing unless it's for work purposes, but her dad writes "Dr." on all the mail he sends to her, which I think is cute.

Family members do address DH as Dr. also when mailing things. And I've actually been known to address my father as Judge so and so when mailing him things just out of habit since everyone calls him Judge.

When mailing things its proper etiquette if you're going to use Mr. to use Dr. In fact any time you are going to use Mr it should be Dr. So if you have address labels that read Mr and Mrs it should be Dr and Mrs and if you put a prefix on anything it should be Dr. When right out asked for a prefix DH uses Dr but most of the time he just ignores that field.
