DH would be so embarrassed of I put "Dr. and Mrs." on things! He doesn't like people's kids to refer to him as Dr. LastName, either. He prefers "Mr." when he's not at work.

ETA - MIL always writes "Dr. and Mrs." on letters to us, though. We'll give her that - she's so proud of her son!

People address mail to us as "Dr. & Mrs." all the time. We've never used it ourselves.

I wonder if it's more of an old school thing? My other father, a physician, was always called Dr. So and So by everyone including my friends. We also address older family friends as Dr. so and so.

For formal mail, replies, etc, we use Dr, just as I use Mrs. It's his title.

Hubby is reluctant for people to know he is a doctor and even more so about his specialty...I think it is odd that he doesn't want people to know or is worried people will assume he is bragging- it's a statement of fact not bragging...but whatever floats his boat I suppose...

Heh. My Inlaws get lots of "Dr and Mrs" addressed stuff and I think it occasionally bothers my MIL because she is one too even if she no longer practices!

For that reason I put "Doctors Lastname" on our wedding invites. Made my parents look so plain!
