  • Here I am, silently judging you.

I have a confession to make: I judge people based on their Pinterest pins, and I just can't help it. I follow several women who post the most absurd juxtapositions, and they don't seem to see it. One is always posting decadent desserts and calorie-laden recipes, followed by "how to lose weight without even trying" pins. Another just pinned "face-slimming exercises." That one made me LOL. And another is constantly pinning incredibly expensive designer clothes and intricate manicures while she also posts things on Facebook about losing her job and her kid being a holy terror. I mean, I know Pinterest is "aspirational" but give me a break!! I find myself going to Pinterest for my daily dose of comedy instead of fun crafts and tasty recipes. Tell me I'm not just being a bad person here. What are some of the most ridiculous things you've seen on Pinterest?

I think VGirl posted this site once: "Pinterest, you are drunk." Or something to that effect.
    It's like "Regretsy." So great!

Oh I won't even get started on the craptacular crafts. Like - no, you should not "upcycle" that t-shirt. Just throw it away and save yourself the humiliation.

Yeah...I do find myself sometimes being that person who's posting desserts that require butter, cream cheese, whole milk, and lard (not really, but you get where I'm going) and then posting "Quick, 20 minute calorie burners!) but, to be fair, I am well aware of my juxtaposition. And I'll be the first to tell you: I'm not using either of those pins. That dessert will never get made and that quick kettle bell workout is certainly not getting done. I don't own kettle bells.

I second the insane craft pins. If your wall art is comprised of used paper towel tubes...um. No, I'll stop there. Just "um".

Most of what I pin is decor inspiration and paint colors and how to decorate small spaces.

Unrealistic parenting pins bother me. Not because I feel the need to "live up to" them, but because people keep repinning them as some "parenting cure"

You're right to mention that people don't always "believe" what they post - like, the overworked mom is probably just looking at pretty things to escape from her 3-year-old hellion for a few minutes. But when you see it through the filter of Pinterest, it just looks ridiculous. I tend to keep most of my pins on private boards, because I know if someone saw some of my decor posts they would think I'm crazy and "aspirational" because no way am I going to live in a house like that in the next decade -- when really maybe I just loved the paint color.

I think I just feel a little extra snarky today.

Oh I totally get it--I do laugh at myself when I pin those inspiration memes about "sweat is fat crying" when it links to a website about workouts etc...I'm not fooling anyone! My friends and family see me and KNOW I don't all of the sudden look like the ripped models! But at the same time, I also find myself thinking "god, my pinterest cooking board makes me look like SUCH a fat ass". But both boards are similarly untouched I've moved on from using it mostly for wedding links, to random things I"d NEVER look at again, to actually using it to save links to sites for home decor etc. Although, I have tried a handful of dinner recipes that turned out well. I just haven't touched the "triple cream cheese chocolate lava cookie brownie cheesecake pie!"

My pins are relatively consistent. A lot of CrossFit workouts, Paleo recipes, and vulgar e-cards...

Haha! I worry about people judging mine. I finally quit posting craft projects because people who know me know the extent of my craftiness is giving the kids a few crayons and taping a piece of printer paper to the high chair tray. (Wouldn't want them to run off with the crayons!)

Interesting. I'm not a big pinterest person. I had the initially board burst, but now I just use it to leave a crumb trail back to blogs/posts that I wont' be able to find later. It's pretty rare now that I use it, although I do get trapped looking at pins occasionally, especially craft ideas around holidays. There are sooooooo many great blogs out there, but I don't have the time to keep up with them. Repinning It's kinda like copying someone else's homework that you didn't have time to do.

I was just about to go on there and look at slumber party ideas...

DD2 is a crazy crafter, so I'm always pinning ideas for her. God bless her, she's done most of them, too.

I honestly hardly ever repin, or look at my friend's pins. I usually just go to everything and browse there, or I use it to pin things that I know I'll want to remember that I didn't actually find on pinterest.

                            That!

And no, baking soda in diet Mt. Dew will NOT glow!!! Stop pinning it. It's a hoax!

I actually do use/do quite a few of the things I pin, though. The decorating ideas and colors have been great.

I have a coworker who has the most ridiculous dessert board ever--bacon banana cupcakes, man whore bars, pregnant brownies...if a sugared up crazy blogger created it, she's found it and pinned it. Love it.

I pin all sorts of vulgar ecards, and desserts that I don't make, and exercises that I don't do, but should. But, I have been using it more for decorative inspiration now that I am in a house that I can actually decorate.
