A partner in DH's group was running in it today. He's fine, but it's so eye-opening to me how many lives this has touched. I'm so sad for the lives that were lost and the people who were injured, but also very grateful for all the loved ones who are safe who might have been harmed. I just can't understand this kind of evil. I guess that's the point...Laurie

Found out an old family friend was running the marathon, his family had moved from the spot of one of the blasts ten minutes before it went off. He was being interviewed on several media outlets. So very scary...Tara

It's been a helluva year for the Major Marathons.
I hate that there is so much evil out there. I know they say the world is getting safer and I know on average that's true but I find random acts of terror more shocking than drug related murders in the 80s (which is what is referred to when they talk about crime having dropped).Married to a Urology Attending! This is what makes me able to sleep at night...
Images of the medical teams and volunteers running toward the blast
The story of an ER doc who was standing in front of a blast, everyone around him went down, yet somehow, he was spared injury and able to jump in and help
So many stories of Bostonians taking in strangers, people who didn't know how to help holding people's hands, and those who did know how to help jumping into action
Stories from many of our friends in the fire service who have run into burning building when they shouldn't have, and made it out alive, child in hand (my DH included)
The pictures on social media of people running all across the country to honor Boston. We live in an awesome country.
My small town, where the mommies and daddies greeted each other with long hugs today
Thank you to Mr. Rogers. If I hadn't been taught to look for the good, and the helpers, I wouldn't be able to leave my house anymore. I am still going to look for bubbles for our kids, though.-Deb

My friend who was in J's residency class the first three years is up in Boston doing her research/fellowship. She was on call and spent the whole night helping and working at the hospital. When she left completely exhausted this AM her Facebook post thanked all of those who worked with her through the night. She is one of those amazing people that works hard and then thanks others.-L.Jane

Through all of this, I'm glad those affected are getting comfort--human or canine. This made me so happy: a bus full of service dog en route to comfort the victims and families.

Boston is in chaos and lockdown as they chase the Boston bombing suspect through the city. Please be in prayer. I have many friends in Watertown, Newton, and Cambridge and their families live there. Several have had visual sightings of these suspects, the firefights, and the police rushing around. I'm so worried and scared for them.
