Recently I saw that our area is getting two Wegman's. Apparently this is a Big Deal because it's supposedly "awesome". We have crappy chains here - Kroger, Food Lion, Martins - but do have a TJs and Whole Foods. At home we have Harris Teeter which I've always considered awesome and before we moved it was essentially a one-stop-shop for us, other than TJs items we liked specifically. Great meats, great produce, reasonable prices.
Everyone is all "YAY WEGMANS!!" when this news broke, but I remain skeptical. Wawa really let me down, and I spent 4 years in undergrad hearing MD, NJ, NY, and PA natives talk about how much they missed Wawa. 45 min west of here there are Harris Teeters, but something about the local grocery store chain that was bought out someone/thing prohibts HT from coming here (or maybe it's because there are so many Kroger's and now they are owned by the same?)
Who knows. Anyway - with our luck an awesome, brand new Wegmans will popup right as we're pulling out of town with a moving van for residency...but on the off chance that we're here...is this exciting?
