Want to know the kicker? I *knew* my doors were unlocked.
I was lying in bed last night around 1, unable to sleep and I had gotten up to pee and look out the windows (because I'm a paranoid wuss). I got back in bed this was literally my train of thought:
"Ugh, my car is unlocked."
"Should I get up and get my keys and lock it? No, I'm not getting up."
"There's nothing in there - literally nothing. If someone broke in I hope they don't take that awesome umbrella I found in the parking deck."
"What am I thinking? No one's going to get in my car, that doesn't happen here."
So imagine how FREAKED out I was when I got into my drivers seat, looked over and saw my passenger side had been trashed and my glove compartment/console emptied. I immediately jumped out, checked under all the seats, in the back, under the car, etc. It was just so unsettling to think someone had been in there just a few yards away.
I feel confident that it was just teenagers walking around in the middle of the night (TBH: I had a "bad boy" boyfriend in HS who used to wander around his upper middle class neighborhood with a friend trying people's door handles, stealing change). It's not like they broke a window and tried to drive off.
Just goes to show: I can kinda sorta tell the future.
