  • For Sale By Owner

    Hey everyone -
Have any of you sold your house "for sale by owner"? I know I am jumping the gun a little bit for match day, but I want to have our house ready to sell by March 18, just in case we get a match out of state. (That way, if we do stay here, I've got a nice, clean, organized house ) But I digress...
My question is, do any of you FSBO's have any advice - things that worked for you, things I should be sure to watch out for, etc in that arena? We are going to give it a go for about 60 days on our own before we resort to an agent (that 6% is a little pricey for our range right now!).
I have found some good web sites... http://www.forsalebyowner.com, etc. that offer some good advice, but I'm just wondering if any of you have anything that would help in this matter as well. Thank you so much!
There really aren't any major problems to fix with our house - we walked into this little gem out of the blue after year one in med school (it saved us 15,000 a YEAR just for in-state tuition!!) - it has a kitchen to die for! (I will be SO SAD to leave that one! That is what sold us on the house), and a lot of other fun little architectural points to it. I'm just scared for the whole marketing, pricing, etc aspect of going about it on our own.
Thanks again for your input! Have a great day!
    Jen B.

    Hey Jen,
If you PM me with your address or your fax number, I can send you some resources. I used to market for a real estate agent--ironically we were targeting FSBO's to get listings, and I have several handouts that give the seller tips on selling their house that I'd be happy to send your way.
    Awake is the new sleep!

      Jen,
I've heard of that FSBO website too. I guess a lot of people look there for homes so that would be a good start.
If you do have to list your home with an agent, PM me and I'll tell you how we negotiated down the commission. Still a chunk of $$$ but we did get it lower which helps.
