People will come pick up broken shit on Freecycle all the time. I've gotten rid of a TON of broken stuff there that people were thrilled to get their hands on.

in nyc, a large dumpster is about 800. for me, i rather just cut stuff up to smaller piece and dump them in regular garbage.

I know you're ready to get rid of it now, but have you called your city? Ours has one or two bulk trash days per year where you can get rid of things like that for free. If you have one coming up in the next month or so, it might be worth it to put it all in the garage for a few weeks and move it out to the curb then.

We talked to one of our neighbors and they want in. If we do decide to move foreword they will share the cost.
In the meantime, I have been cleaning out the downstairs closet/garage. I have found several things to list on our area's garage sale FB page. I feel like this will pay for our share of the dumpster.

            So there's that I guess.

And make sure your other neighbors don't think it is a free for all! I've heard of it getting nasty. It's bizarre really!

Maybe we'll just keep it to ourselves! I hate dealing with conflict and I don't want the stress. See how I changed my mind now!

This! I've heard of neighbors secretly filling up the dumpster in the middle of the night!!

Some dumpsters come with lockable lids for that exact reason.

Have all the stuff ready to load as soon as it gets there. I think splitting the costs and selling off some unused items to pay for your half is a stroke of genius!

I think you just agree that you each fill half and don't worry about it. Unless your neighbors have done you wrong in the past, I would just trust them. But maybe I'm naive.
