Anything grilled and he is on it - steaks, burgers, peppers, asparagus...

He enjoys making desserts the most, especially Tiramasu and Creme Brûlée
        Doppelganger

DH does desserts well, especially flambeed ones. Bananas Foster is his signature dessert. He's made tiramisu and Creme Brulee as well.

He can cook when he tries, but doesn't much. He is very good at grilling and can make a mean steak.

Random--he included "dessert making" as one of his hobbies on his residency match application. It came up at over half the interviews. At one interview they made slides with the interviewees names/pics/hobbies and he understood why--it definitely stood out (in a good way)
Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

J and I need to hang in the kitchen. I love anything I can torch. So much so that I have upgraded from the little handheld torch to the ones you get at Home Depot.

I am also into spherification. I love the chemistry behind it plus I think it is cool to eat say apricot or rum "caviar" - if J likes to make those types of desserts, he may like a spherification kit. He could make rasberry caviar to place on top of his creme brulee or little rum spheres on top of the banana's foster.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

OT, but related - hubby's med school did the same thing with the accepted students. He had listed his hobbies at the time as darts and gunsmithing, I think.

I think this plays into this anesthesia OCD. My guy bakes cakes and macaroons!

He's also good on the grill. Salmon on cedar planks, steak, that sort of thing.

I do most of the cooking. He hates it, and I enjoy it if I have time and the kids aren't underfoot.

Yes, please. My biggest challenge is getting good seafood.

DH is the breakfast food king. I especially love it when he makes blueberry pancakes/waffles.

Yea, you are closer to a coastal body of water than I am! We like the frozen seafood mix from Costco that has mussels, calamari, clams, shrimp, etc. It's a bit of a cheat, but I'm in Kansas, we're pretty landlocked here and buying the ingredients separately would get VERY expensive. Although we do have to buy extra mussels because my 4-year old is a bit obsessed. We also had some family bring us back some saffron when they went to Spain, but prior to that he used saffron from the store (Trader Joe's I believe)

Pizza on the grill, sweet potato chili, and waffles. Cooking/baking isn't really his thing.
