I didn't research the judges. I tried, but no dice. So, I didn't vote to retain any of them, I just abstained from voting there.

We had this resource for judges:

Very handy to have ratings. I think many of their recs won, too. I bet a lot of people use it for a cheat sheet.

Plastic bag initiative was soundly defeated. Was surprised by how many Dems won local races, because I swore this town and county were squarely red.
Guess we will have two more years of constant stalemates in Congress?

I don't know, I'm kind of encouraged by Mitch McConnell's speech. He was shockingly respectful of the other side. I know, I'm a crazy optimist. Still, it's a far better tone than the reaction he had to Obama winning. Eventually BOTH parties are going to have to acknowledge the other side of the electorate. I think Republicans are pissed when the elect a wave and the get none of their policies enacted. Democrats felt the same when Obama was elected twice and it was discounted instead of acknowledge as a message from the "people". We are 49 -51 on a hell of a lot of issues. We are just going to have to allow our politicians to maybe make some mistakes when they try some stuff, I think. The idea that we will never undo anything if it passes keeps us from passing anything. I mean, who can be CERTAIN about a policy? We've had some great ideas turn out to have many unintended consequences. There should be no shame in trying. Not trying certainly isn't working.
Otherwise, yes....stalemate will continue.
I'm disappointed about Florida too. I like waffles.

OMG! Seriously if we had not just spent a ton on our kitchen we'd move across the street - though I'm not sure our neighboring state is any better.
You know - I'm glad a ton of people voted, great turnout and I am disappointed that our candidates lost - but the thing that pisses me off more then anything is that in his acceptance speech the republican governor who was just BARELY re-elected in a traditionally red state talked about turning our state into a model red state. WTF?!?! How about talk about bridging the OBVIOUS gap between the two parties? How about talking about addressing the obvious concerns that 50% of our state has with your leadership.
I HATE Politics! UGH!Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

Yeah, SS. That's exactly the problem. People need to stop taking their wins as a mandate to move in their preferred direction. Since we've been wiggling back and forth between left and right for the last 6 years (at least 2008 --D, 2010 - R, 2012- D, 2014- R), you'd think they'd try to find the middle to stop the swing and make some progress. Also, it alienates the hell out of the "other side" when you gloat or claim a mandate with a significant opposition.Angie

I'm happy with the Texas outcome, mostly because it seemed to be such a shocker to people outside of Texas when so many people here were like WTF woman, you are so far to the left on the issues you chose you are going to alienate so many people. I'm not the only one who was pissed by Wendy Davis declaring she spoke for Texas women. I actually think it caused a lot of people to make sure they votes against her. Her old senate seat was won by a tea party Republican!
That being said, I'm meh on a lot of other Republican policies and I wish I had known more about the judicial candidates. I don't really believe in straight party voting on that level.
Also I hate Ted Cruz. He's an idiotMarried to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

I would have voted for anyone to keep Wendy Davis out of office.
Side note: I really wanted to vote for Spicy Brown. Senator Spicy Brown. My kids were watching though. 😂

The only major issue for our state was closing loopholes for weapons background checks, which passed easily.
We already have legal weed, which is a gigantic tax boon. My friend's dad is a partner is a legit grow operation here. The taxes they pay from this year's crop will be close to $1mil. That's just ONE operation.
