I needed to rant, and there wasn't a thread yet!
I was worried about dropping E off at school today, because she's had diarrhea since Sunday night, and they send her home after 3 of them, but I have work to do and decided she needed to at least start the day there. Well, they called and I was expecting the worst, but instead they said she wouldn't drink her bottle, and said both of them smelled sour. I've been mixing whole milk into the breastmilk for the last 2-3 weeks with no issues, and this week it was just an extra .5oz in each 5oz bottle (up to half and half). I didn't notice any bad smells when I mixed them last night. I told them to go ahead and defrost the 5oz of breastmilk that she has left in the freezer. They called again and said the bag leaked, so they only got 2oz. She went to sleep without the bottle anyway. Normally I wouldn't be concerned - missing a bottle or two won't kill her as long as she drinks her water with lunch, but I don't want her to get dehydrated with the diarrhea. She had one BM this morning and hasn't had any since then, fortunately. I asked them to try one of the bottles again when she wakes up, and if she won't drink anything for her second bottle time, I'd pick her up early. So frustrating! If it really is sour, I guess it could be the fridge not working well? I don't know if our freezer and refrigerator are on the same freon unit, and I know the freezer isn't working properly, but I didn't notice that anything wasn't cold in the fridge. The breastmilk was pumped Friday, and I just bought the cow's milk on Saturday.Allison - professor; wife to a urology attending; mom to baby girl E (11/13), baby boy C (2/16), and a spoiled cat; knitter and hoarder of yarn; photographer

That looks like you took a picture of a postcard. Unreal.
Rave/confession: I have slept SO well the past two nights now that DH is on nights. Eventually I know I'll miss having him in the same bed but for right now it is glorious being able to sleep soundly through the night without anyone snoring in my face or stealing the covers.

How about instead of criticizing the program I run and how I wasn't "prepared" or you want there to be more volunteers, why don't you fucking help the 33 weeks pregnant woman interview 20+ students this morning? Or better yet, instead of engaging the rest of my team in 2 hour meeting and giving me dirty looks when I ask them to help me, why don't you let them fucking help me? Oh right, I forgot - we are a team in name only and only when it is convenient for you. T-minus 10 days to departure!

Waiting for the doc to come in and place my IUD. The first time we tried a couple weeks ago my doc (FM) couldn't do it, so today I have an actual OB placing it. I hope this time isn't as painful as last time. I just want to get this over with!

The nutcase head even shut down my only volunteer's request for the same assistance. Kind of a douchey move to do that just so you can have your dept meeting.

Winter Day 2: 2 hour delay following school cancellation yesterday. The snow plow finally showed up last night in the middle of the night and plowed the driveway closed. Had to use the shovel to dig out. What a mess.

DH thinks he's found a PA who knows the system & EHR (with years of experience!) to hire on for next year.
I'm very excited for this possibility.

Gah, still no IUD! She said I could come back another day to try with ultrasound guidance, but I'm just over it at this point. I have a prescription for the mini pill, but I don't want that either. I think I think it's time to start buying some NFP books.

A friend sent me a message asking what to get E for her birthday. I've only hung out with this girl a few times - she's a friend of a friend, and I like her, plus she has a daughter close to E's age, so I invited her to the party. The invitation says no gifts necessary, and I really meant it - we do not need more toys!! Are people actually going to follow this? I'm sure family members will ignore this and bring her gifts, and hubby and I picked up a few things for her, but I just think it's silly to expect people to buy things for my kid.Allison - professor; wife to a urology attending; mom to baby girl E (11/13), baby boy C (2/16), and a spoiled cat; knitter and hoarder of yarn; photographer
