Yep, that was Saturday/Sunday... Today, though, the sun is actually out after a whole week. Sunshine never looked so good!!! Hope the skies clear soon.

Cassy, with what you've had going on that is very concerning! Not OK at all! Please please have the police come with you if anything like that happens again.

            Cassy,

I'd take someone just to be sure. However, we once had something weird like that happen as well... a window was open...strange. We aren't quite sure how it did that... nothing taken, nothing disturbed. Still it rattled us.

OMG, alarm systems! I'm so frustrated. Made an appointment to transfer the security system from the rental house to the new house. It's supposed to take 2-3 hours. From about 9:30-2:30 this guy was taking inventory and whatnot. Then he gives me an estimate that is like $8k for the system. Then we spend about an hour dickering back and forth until I get him down to like $5k for the system which is still ridiculous. Ridiculous! Remember, we are an existing customer and we are bringing over a whole bunch of equipment from the rental house. Then he starts installing stuff and I've got to leave at 3:15 to pick my kid up from school, not to mention that the 3yo and infant are totally falling apart from boredom and exhaustion at this point and I've run out of ways to entertain them. I had to kick him out without getting the installation done and now I have to schedule a return visit. Arg!

Oh. Mrs K. Ugh!!! (((Hugs))) How many days until you move in? Do we need a countdown thread?

Rave: I met my daughter at the YMCA for our (what is becoming a regular thing) workout. Then we drove home and watched a movie together on DVD before Zoe came home from school.
Rant: There is still slippery wet snow on the ground and the temp was -5 to -15F with the wind chill today. Not a fan. But I got through it anyway.

$5000 WTF?? Who are you using and what in the world are you installing? We spent like $400 on equipment and that seemed like a lot of stuff to me

5k seems kinda crazy. Ours was 2200, of course our house didn't even have walls yet so it was a lot easier. But still!! Holy crap.

5,000 seems really expensive to me.

Yeah, it's absurd. It's a monitored system with lots of bells and whistles. The house has a walk out basement so it's like securing two first floors with wrap around windows on each level. And we have 5 entries. DrK's a little paranoid too because his patients are violent and make threats. Still, it's crazy and I'm going to take another stab at scaling it back today.

I know we're in a different market but for frame of reference when you talk to the guy today...25 windows, 5 doors (two of them double doors), glass break sensor, motion detector, and quite a few smoke and CO detectors. Monitored for 25 per month. Good luck!!!! At least you got him down from 8k.

Ours was here when we moved in, but if I price it out, it is probably over $5K. We have a sunroom with each window having a sensor, five door sensors on the first floor, all first floor windows have sensors, motion detection, two pads in the house, two remote controls for the car, monitored smoke and CO2 monitors, plus a water sensor. Every little feature added costs a LOT. Don't know if that makes you feel any better, but when we ever move, I'd probably splurge and put in the same things we have here. It's worth it for the security I FEEL having it.

Yeah, this is pretty much it with glass breaks too and second floor security to keep the K Bros from climbing out the windows. Hmm, maybe I should look into that kitchen alarm I wanted....

OMG, alarm guy is still there and he wants to come back tomorrow. I'm never going to be rid of him. A million years from now, archeologists will dig up my house and this guy will still be installing the alarm.

I wore him down another $500 though.
