We often do an "us" gift particularly towards the end of the year when there are lots of sales going on and I spot a good deal on something we've been wanting/needing for a while. Our gifts to each other don't often correspond to a particular date on the calendar though -- we may say "I got you a present for your birthday" but it'll be like a month early, lol.

Normally we don't do Valentine's day (sometimes he buys me day- or week-after chocolate when it goes on sale because I like chocolate) but this year should be interesting because we have a good friend coming to visit us that weekend with her brand-spankin-new-overly-affectionate-loves-to-shower-her-with-gifts boyfriend so I have no clue how it's going to go. But in this part of the country Mardi Gras is a much bigger deal than V-day and the celebrations happen to overlap this year so on actual Valentine's day we'll be going to a Mardi Gras parade.

Mardi Gras sounds like a kickass Valentine's Day. We have our own version of Mardi Gras in Tampa, same idea but with pirates. We're going to the gasparilla night parade vd night

Our good friends who just got married are coming for the weekend. Problem solved! I'm thinking a "romantic" dinner theme, and having them teach us Settlers of Cattan. 😄
