    What were your pets names?

My family has been split on names for the puppy, but DH and DD11 really like Tempy (we're Bones fans) and the breeder named each puppy after a bones character (Tempy, Angela, Booth and Hodgans). Tempy's character in Bones is very smart, calm and rationale. I'm hoping hold true for the dog too. I wanted a Victorian British name. My preferences were "Winne" for Winnafred or Trudy. I was clearly vetoed. I can call her Temperance though. So I still kinda get my way.

Growing up we had my parents were big on The Beatles so we had:

    Sgt. Pepper-cat
Sadie- 2 different times for two different dogs
    Rocky (Racoon)- tabby cat
Ernie-dog rehomed with us and already named
Shawnacee-mom's sheltie, I think she was going for a Celtic name because of the Scottish heritage of the breed
Bonkers-because the cat was truly insane!!
Orie-black and white cat my mom rescued through the newpaper, kittens and mom found on a naval ship
Barley-current beagle they have, no very smart apparently My dad brews beer so I think that's where Barley came from

Our neighbor's have a labradoodle named Piper. Love that name. Pippin would be cute too, but too close and confusing for neighbor dogs.
The neighbor's down the street just rehomed a hyperactive lab named Luna. She's with a new married fireman that runs and brings her along to work.

My Grandmother has a Pomeranian named Winston.

Pet names are so much fun.

      from childhood:
Boots (tabby with white my dad had when he and my mom got married)
Sophie (cat who looked mostly aby - named after a character in a kid's book my sister was reading at the time)
Kiska (siberian husky, named after an Aleutian island)
      MacKenzie (siberian husky)
      after I moved out:
Sam (my first kitten, classic tabby with white - I had a song from camp running through my head when I got him "When Sammy put the paper on the wall...he poured a pot of glue upon us all...")
Lucas (white cat my ex named and kept)
Brian (orange tabby my ex named and kept)
Cindy (all-black cat got at vet, came with the name)
Sachet (MH calico who came with that name)
Pixel (DH's first cat on his own)
Pel (another word that, like pixel, also means "picture element", also DH's; can you tell he was a computer graphics programmer? She's the one we still have)

My dad has a cat named Grace (my sister named her and then left her with my parents when she moved away), and DH had a cat named Gonzo, growing up (I'm guessing he and his brother were Muppet Show fans and named her).

        We've had:

Purry Mason - cat, went by Mason
Royal - dog, short for Royal Pain in the Ass
Einstein - dog, 100% ironically named because he was so incredibly fucking stupid
        Pip - cat, LOTR reference
Merry - cat, sib to Pip and obvs a LOTR reference, too.
Brownie - cat, she's brown and our kids aren't terribly creative at naming pets
Joey - dog, came with the name
Ginger - dog, because my DH wouldn't let me name her Blondie (after the punk 80s band, not the comic strip character) because we already had the lame-ass named cat Brownie.

We like place names for animals.

          Family cats:
          -Devo (named for Devon, PA)
-Tucker (named for the Tuck school)
-RB (named for Round Bay - we we lived growing up)
          -Blue Irish (goes by Irish)
          -Black Scottish (goes by Scotty)

          Family Dogs:
-Bailey (no place name, the only outlier)
-Phil S (goes by Phyllis bc she's a girl - named after my orthodontist because my dad thought it was funny)
          -Lilly/Lola - my stepmom's dogs - she named them

          Our only dog (rehomed):
-Charles' Baker Buckeye - "Baker" after Baker Tower at college
Married to a Urology Attending! (that is an understated exclamation point)
Mama to C (Jan 2012), D (Nov 2013), and R (April 2016). Consulting and homeschooling are my day jobs.

                Dogs:
                Pumpkin
                Teacup
Basil (pronounced Ba-zuhl, like the name, not the herb)
                Fenley

                Birds:
                Lemonhead
Nathan--who actually turned out to be a girl...we figured it out when he/she died passing an egg. I want "Nate" as a baby boy name, but the name is a bit tainted now
